i doubt its a problem with the amp, because i bought it brand new just a few months ago,, anyway, it seems to do it mostly when im using gain,,, and palm muting a lot, for example, if i play a chord and then palm mute it immediately it makes this crackling noise for about 2 or 3 seconds...
i was just wondering what could be causing this,,, i think my guitar might die soon.. :(

Could be a number of things. It could be the amp--fiddle with the gain a bit and see if keeps happening at different settings. It could also be your guitar cable. Try a different cable.

I had a similar problem a while back, and tracked it down to the cable input on the guitar, which needed to be replaced. I guess the wires were getting loose. Finally, see if it happens when you switch to a different pickup. If it doesn't, it could either be the switch itself or the pickup you've turned off. I've had both of these problems as well. (Pickup switches wear out...who knew?)

Just some things to try.

I get a random pop or crackle sometimes because of static electricity built in the body. I practice a lot with no shoes on, so on carpeted floors and the rubbing and tapping of my foot builds up the static....when I touch the strings ....snap, crackle. Doesn't hurt, just an irratating sound.

Humidity levels usually drop in the winter months. I've got a reading of 21% here right now.

It's a fairly common practice--in the guitar discussion forum world, anyway--to wipe down the pickguards or fronts of the guitar with dryer sheets in the winter months. The dryer sheets eliminate all static and the effects usually last for several weeks. Some even 1)mount them under pickguards, 2)wrinkle them up and place them in the control cavity, or 3)just keep a couple loose sheets inside their cases when the guitar is stored.

The same works for amps, as well.

C'mon guys tell him the truth! The reason your guitar is making a crackling noise is it is about to explode! Lol seriously though many reasons can be why it is making crackling noises. If you are certain it is your guitar and not the amp or cable, have a look at your jack, pick up wiring, pick up selector wiring and last but certainly not least look at your volume and tone controls! These could have a lot to do with the crackling noise. Sounds like something isn't making complete contact.

Harley is right 159.6% about the dryer sheets in or used to wipe down a guitar or amp. Ever get a static shock in the winter time from your guitar? It just SCREAMS rock and roll and the need to put the guitar away for a while lol.
