I am at a very stressful point right now. A lot of my stress is coming from my desperate scramble for gear to record. As some of you might know I have a little project I am working on where I record guitars, vocals, and random things as percussion and I take it very seriously now. On my first 5 tracks, it was all acoustic and recorded through a USB Condenser Mic. The Condenser mic broke up when I hit a not too loud or a high note in voice so I sold it.

I will be adding electric guitar to my newer stuff but I am stuck on what gear do I need. All I have at the moment is a dynamic Shure SM57. I would like to record on my PC. Should I buy a soundboard or a mixer o something? or just a mic mate for the Mic. Or a cable to record direct or should I say screw it and buy recording software (Which I dont want to do) with an interface.

PLEASE HELP ME.... Im going insane

Well I have been using audacity and did my acoustic recordings with a MXL 990 USB Mic but the quality was a little less than satisfying. So I did a buttload of research on digital recorder, workstations, tone programs, firewire interfaces, usb interfaces, and finally came down to one. A M-Audio Delta 1010PCI Interface.

I have researched a good way to record. Im gonna use an XLR Wire stright from the back of my amp to the PCI Interface , but at the same time I will be Micing the Amp with an SM57. I hear it adds a little bite to the sound. If anyone is interested in checking the PCI Interface out, here is the link to MusiciansFreind. Its affordable and highly rated.

I will do a review when it gets here!
