Hello good people,
I recently downloaded Audacity, went and bought 1/4 --1/8 adapter today so i can hook up to my computer. And that is as far as i have gotten. I plugged my guitar straight in, and plugged it in through the amp via output on my amp. The program is not picking up anything.
I have my guitar volume on, amp on etc. I am using window Vista, MIM strat, Micro cube amp.
any pointers? do i need to download anything else to make it work?

oh that sucks... i just figured it out a bit... went to trouble shooting at Audacity. had to adjust some settings..... there is a bit of delay, which is very annoying when trying to play.
Do you guys usually mic your amp when using Audacity. I'm not sure what kind of soundcard my computer has, but it is a newer computer.
also i'm guessing i have to DL most of the sound options for Audacity as well? none of them show up IE the effects etc.

Fellow Kentuckian,
I run my guitar straight into the mic jack... you may have to mute the mic in the Playback mixer and have it on in the Recording mixer...
If it's an acoustic, I usually get better results just playing into a mic.
You might also try Mixcraft 3 or 4.. there's a demo and it works pretty well with effects already built in too..
Later.

Mixcraft is great! I actually purchased it recently after my demo ran out because I like the overall interface and graphics and stuff. But Mixcraft is just basically an audacity on crack! WEEEHAA!!!!!!

I can't remember where in the settings, but there is something called "Playthrough" you can set it off or on. set it to off and the delay will go away. HTH
