thanks for the quick reply lol

I don't really like the epiphone les paul, a buddy of mine has it and it didnt really spark my interest

and since im dying to get a gibson sg or something along the lines of it (the epiphone g310) i thought maybe i should get that guitar, or the jet king.

but, what kinda guitar do you suggest if not the above two?

Well i dont really like the look of the ibanez, and altough i like SG's, that one looked a bit strange, anyways, i'm more into the sharp edged look-a-like stratocasters :P, like ehrm this: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/img2007/eg/m/RG350DX_WH_1P_02.gif

also like

Just curious, but have you actually played the two? Or are you just deciding based on reviews and such? I know from my own experience I've gotten worked up about a guitar that looked and sounded awesome but when I actually sat down and played it I downright hated the thing.

lol sadly, I'm going by reviews and what my friends tell me that know people who have the guitars

I haven't really gotten a bad review of either of the two, but everyone recommended that I get the jet king

Well, between you and me, and the million others reading this, I strongly suggest finding and trying out one of each. Everyone has their own style and what works for one person doesn't for another. Some people find Les Pauls too heavy, Gibson SG's to narrow in the neck, Strats too tinny... Even though they're all great guitars.
Did you know the first Fender Stratocaster Eddie Van Halen bought his bandmates started throwing sticks at him because they hated it so much? And thats an awesome guitar!

dont go by looks, play all the guitars at your local shop, even if it takes you 2 days, and pick the best :P haha.

Great advice to play them first It's not about Style or looks it's about comfort and feel. What feels good also is not the most expensive so don't be sold on the thought that because it is expensive it is the best.

We have a few decent music shops around here where I live, but I always felt a bit embarrassed to go in and ask to play half their guitars to see what I like. Starting from knowing nothing about the tone and feel of most guitars, what do I ask? "Hi. I don't know what guitar I want. Can you help me?"

My line was "hey i'm beginner, please help me choose a good guitar" :) the guys at the shop were really nice, they gave me some advice, and let me play around a bit. I was too shy to play anything (and not without reason, as I really was (and still am) beginner) but you can still feel the weight of the guitar, the strings, the neck, is it comfortable or not... And I asked one of the staff to play for me a bit to hear the voice of it.
I only had a conception that I want a superstarto and the style of music I like. If you add the price category you interested in, then I'm sure they can help you.

To be very honest, you really won't know what exactly you want in a guitar until after you buy one and get better. Its like all things you buy - sports gear, cars, etc. .. you develop a style and soon find yourself saying "Hmmm.. i wish this had just a little of this... or that" You might find that you never use your tremolo arm and feel it makes the guitar harder to keep in tune... you might find that while the narrow neck is comfortable, its difficult to do proper bends up high on the neck. Eddie Van Halen found this to be the case and prefers wide necks simply for that reason.

My suggestion is simply find a guitar that is middle of the road everything. Nice weight, you can reach the high frets comfortably, versatile sound so you can switch from Blues to Jazz to grunge to metal as you develop. Try playing it standing and sitting. I find the big body electrics like the Gibson ES-335 great but difficult to keep on my lap when sitting without a strap. Go play all your friends guitars and see if you like them!

Hope this helps a little. Remember that these are only my opinions. You'll be the one who has to decide whats right for you.

This is exactly how I got my first guitar. Basically a mid 40's guy who could not play a chord, I just walked in and said "I want to learn to play and I don't want a piece of junk". They were very cool, a couple of guys played some different guitars and were very helpful. I ended up with a Schecter Omen 6 which I still own and love to play. I'll admit it was a bit humbling to start asking questions while feeling totally ignorant of any guitar facts but I was treated really well at my local GC and a more locally owned place.

In fact completely separate of each other they both recommended the same guitar. My advice would be to just go in and say I want to play some electrics, they'll be happy for the opportunity to start a relationship with a new customer. If they don't, head somewhere else. Good luck.

BTW, here is an Epi SG of quite a bit better quality for the same clams as the JetKing.

the les paul guitars are strange looking but they have good quality. bought a les paul special edition from musicians friend for 150.00. and the sound sounds awesome. looks dont really matter for a guitar because if you get a guitar just for the looks you might be buying a guitar that sounds mudded out.

good luck.

I've played with an Epiphone Les Paul... it seemed pretty nice but it did not spark my interest. And, I really love the style and look of the Gibson SG... even though I can't afford it, I tried finding an alternative, and that was the Epiphone G-310.

I currently own a Silvertone Paul Stanley Apocalypse ... is this guitar any good? everyone tells me it sucks

I myself personally enjoy playing the Epiphone SG's, and everytime I go into the music store they always insist I try their new shipment of epiphone's, I don't know if they are just trying to make a sale to me or if they want my opinion so they can just repeat it to interested buyers. They have actually given me the nickname Mr. Epiphone because of my fascination with them.

And Eshirazi my answer to your question is........I think you should tell your friends where they could go, I mean why would Paul Stanley himself realese one of his signature guitars just so people could say it sucks. A rock legend such as himself probably does know his guitars and sounds, but than again maybe it's just me defending Paul and KISS themselves seeing as I am A HUGE KISS fan, you are lucky to own a Paul Stanley Guitar, I'd do anything to get my hands on a KISS licensed/signiture guitar.
