We may need to start a support group called, Next Level Guitar Anonymous to help those like me that find this whole place addicting. I can't stop checking the boards like 20 times a day and watching Dave's videos and my god the list goes on and on. I can't stop! Please help me!

Hi, my name is Zeppelin_Maniac and I'm an NLG-aholic.

Hi Zep,

Welcome to the group.
I have a hard time fitting in the practice that I'd like in a day. I'm always on the forum it seems. I try to spend time watching the videos and reading the lessons on the main site but tend to get side tracked by the forum. Then I have to try and fit work in there too.Oh well there's worse thing I could be doing. At least when it's all said and done you get something out of it. I just hope what I get out of it is that I become a better guitar player and if I make a few friends along the way.........well that's just a bonus!
Does that sound corny or what?
Enjoy

Sure Blew ... blame the forums. The only reason you don't practice is that you haven't figured out a way to play and hold your beer at the same time.

I take off 4 months every winter 'cause I simply hate working in sub-zero temps. I get bored during the day and there's few people in my area that share the same interests. This is why I browse internet discussion forums. My other option is talking to myself, but we hate each other.:D

Some may say it detracts but I think it actually inspires. It helps keep your interest up in the guitar. There's been times I've went weeks without touching one. Then one day I'll connect and see what the new talk at the Telecaster Page is about. Soon after, I'm wiping the dust off my ol' Tele and picking the cobwebs from the strings.

Whiskey,

I have no problem holding my beer while I practice, in fact I can hold a whole keg............the problem is I have to drink it first............ Then I can't hold my guitar while I practice. This is where the problem lies.:D

Haha...I have a Tele headstock with cigarette burns from where I would tuck the filters in under the strings during sets.

Yep, I smoked for 19 years and quite last November(16th). Been through it all, then my front teeth started falling out.:( I was buying a carton every 3 days at the end. I don't mind others smoking around me and hopefully none of this is taken as preaching. In fact, I kinda like it when a little drifts my way in the bars.

One day I read that smoking addiction is 90% mental and only 10% physical. And that the old saying "it's too hard to quite" should be ignored because of this. It's just something society made up to deal with quiting failures. I think it worked, along with the gum.

But what helped the most was the scene on CSI where they extracted the lungs from some murder victim that smoked. They were covered with giant, cancerous tumors. I started sweating and got nauseous. It was aired that same week I stopped in November.

BTW-now I'm battling a life-long habit of biting my fingernails. It was MUCH harder than quiting smoking, yet coming along very well.

Take care!

I know this isn't a topic about habits but...

My habits were all during my freshman and sophomore years of highschool, but thank God I kicked them. I had been smoking pot since 8th grade with my cousin, and he got me started on a whole bunch of other stuff. Now my nose bleeds without warning from one drug, I have two abcesses on my left arm from another drug not being injected properly... if there is such a thing as doing any drug properly.

However, that being said, since the day those abcesses appeared I have never touched a cigarette of any type, a needle, or a bottle of alcohol. I am just too scared. But I am happy for one reason, whenever me and my soon to be wife start having kids, they will learn about drugs in school. And when they come home, they can ask me questions about them, and I can show them the damage it does to your body.

So for all you youngins out there who think you need this crap to be creative, all I can say is don't do it. It isn't worth holes in your arm, or an out of nowhere nosebleed. The following picture is of a fresh abcess. Don't look at it if you have a week stomach.
