Hi - yes, in fact we have been trying to get the rights to more songs to produce more song DVDs. We purchase publishing rights to all the songs that we teach on DVD. Some songs are available and some are not, some take a long time to get cleared and its expensive - but we keep trying!

We tried to get the rights for Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits - killer guitar work in that song and it would have made an awesome DVD - but we were denied. We also tried top get the rights for Always with you, always with me by Joe Satriani - but we were denied those also - big bummer as I would have loved to do that one.

Keep in mind that even though we are denied rights we still have to pay the agency we work with for their time trying to get the publishing - so even though we get a no - there is still a cost attached to that - so we try and choose best as we can.

We are now looking into the rights for a few songs made famous by Metallica and Led Zeppelin - so hopefully we will get news back on those and the rights will be made available for us to purchase - keep your fingers crossed as they would make killer instructional DVDs - looking forward to doing more song dvds

rock on!

David,
Just wanted to say thanks to you and Tim for trying to get those dvd rights.
Why would they deny them? It's not like they are giving up their rights to the song, seems to me they should want you to teach it and keep the songs alive among guitarist.

Often at times its not even up to the artist - its their publishing company thathas the rights. Some artists and companies are okay with selling rights, others are not, some want big bucks that a small company like nlg cant afford but a big movie production company can, so they will sell for big bucks to put in a movie. It all depends really. But we want to ensure the artists get paid for their work so we buy the publishing rights if available and this way its also totally legal and legit.
rock on!

Congratulations David & Tim for that fantastic work!

I dont know if it could be possible, but i thing itīd be a great DVD Lesson, one with an special about 'Slash Soloīs', but i suposse it is too much complicated to get the rigths.

Thereīre too much people who wants to learn playing that part of their favourite songs, where the guitarist shines and rocks on! :)

Best regards.
