I'm looking for a guitar teacher in the Long Beach, CA area. Either at my house or yer's (within 5 miles o' LB). I'm interested in lessons during the week after 4PM.
I've been playin' for 9 months, but I don't think I've progressed much past my second 'r third month (A, Am, C, D, Dm, E, Em, F, G chords [my changes suck], Am pentatonic scale, coupla songs I can play poorly) . I'm primarily interested in rock music, an' I'm learnin' to play for my own enjoyment. I own a Squier '51 & a Roland Cube 30. BTW, I'm 45 years-old, if that's a concern.
If yer available an' interested please email me at hearsedriver@hearsedriver.com. Thanx for yer time.

Have you tried checking craigslist? I did a search for LA area and there were a lot of guitar teachers advertising:

Maybe you can also ask David if he knows anyone in your area. Of course, if you 'd be willing to drive down to Oceanside, you can take lessons from The Man Himself!

Thanx for the reply! I'll check out craigslist fer sure.
I think the commute to SD county for lessons from Dave might be a li'l extreme. Even when I lived in SD drivin' up to north county'd be a li'l long, especially with that traffic 'round Del Mar.;)
It'd be bitchin' to take lessons from the legend himself though.:D
Thanx again, bro!

Coool...I hope you're able to find a good teacher. I was where you're at, learning on my own for a year, and hitting a plateau where I wasn't feeling like I was progressing until I found David's youtubes, and having a personal teacher really makes learning so much more efficient and not as frustrating when you have someone to answer all your questions and explain things. Don't forget to check out Orange County craigslist..there might be OC teachers closer to LB:

Good luck with your learning and playing and Rock On! :)

I dig David's vids, but what I really need is feedback. If I had someone to tell me what to work on an' when & where I'm screwin' up, I think I'd really progress.

Hey, Ive taken lessons on and off for a few years, and I have gotten more out of these video lessons from this site. You have to be patient. Work on dexterity drills to gain strength, and fluidness. (wish I did that at first) Then your chops get better over time.. Like a couple of years.. Practice the easy songs to learn strumming skills and technics that will come with each new song (hammer-ons) (pull-offs) etc. Your gains come in spurts all of a sudden you can play something one day that used to be really hard. Practice daily ! Good luck and stay with it.... Dorian
