Believe it or not, more skill is needed in the picking hand than the fret hand. It requires the most subtle touches and most accurate movements. If you are left-handed, I would try it out on a proper left-handed guitar. I've heard many stories of people who had a terrible time trying to learn on a right-handed guitar only to find it so much better when they switched. There have been several threads where this has been discussed on this site. Maybe a little searching will get you some results.

Aye, find a left-handed guitar fit for you.. If not, fret not (bad pun). There are still things you can try:

1) Do the Hendrix thing and flip a right handed guitar around, stringing it backwards to fit your hand (though this will make the bass pickups get the treble strings and vice versa, which is kinda neat depending on personal preferences)

2) Become ambidexterous, very useful in many things life-related :)

do you write, golf, kick, swing a bat all left handed? then odds are u need to play the guitar left handed.

Whatever your natural preference, its just like writing left/right handed, just your natural preference.
