These videos have helped me alot and i would like it if Dave can help me with the Stairway to heaven solo. I have all of the rest of the song down and now i need to learn is the solo. I would really appreciate if you could make a video of the solo for stairway to heaven.
Thanks

Chad you couldn't have said it better! I was actually going to request this also, i've got everything upto the solo down.... But there are probably some people that also might want help with the rest of the song because there are a lot of different techniques to get down. I wouldn't mind if Dave actually walked through the whole of it because you never know what you are missing if you're a newbie. Someone with experience can help with tips along the way, things that you wouldn't necessarily think of. Just watching Daves videos have helped me in so many ways I couldn't have imagined!
Man if I can get this solo down i'll have chicks throwing themselves at me :D

Sure, but if you could play that solo i'm sure you'd get more! Finger movement like that is seen as subtext in chick language that guys still haven't figured out, all we know is we get the chicks!
Oh and don't get me wrong, I get them... but none of us here are rock stars...yet!

Maybe he could make just a video for the solo and a Video for the rest of the song (intro verses etc.)
I don't know, it's just an idea.

Yeah I think you could be right there, it's an 8 minute song so there's plenty going on. Probably would make sense to split it down into a couple of videos. A video dedicated to the solo would be helpful though, just concentrating on the key elements of getting the solo to really sing for you.

So is david supposed to reply to this and say he will make a video of it or does he just do it?

Don't undersell yourself my friend, this is the first song I ever tried to play... i've got most of it down on my own. Just a lil' passion, a lil' dedication and a whole lotta love!...okay sorry bad pun, but yeah if you practice it enough you'll get it. Trust me i've pulled my hair out at times, but you get there in the end.
....Now we're just waiting on the Taubster to teach us the solo and take us into the light! Woot!

Ya'll might find this humorous... I've found it tiring that when people pick up my guitars they seem to always play the first 5 notes of Stairway before they play anything else. It happens with such regularity that I tell people first thing, "Don't play Stairway unless you can get past the first measure."
By now you good folks have very likely seen some of my videos. The vids have titles, some have captions, etc. Well, my uncle once picked up my guitar and did the Stairway thing despite my warning. Then he went home and made his own video just for me.
Here it is: Stairway (http://www.cothranonline.com/videos/stairway.wmv)
It's about the funniest thing I've ever seen.

ad15, the solo is probably not the same, but the kid is like 6, don't think he even knows who Jimmy Page is. It's really just for kicks, when sometimes some of us, myself included, struggle with getting some songs right and you see kids like this go through the whole song. It's sometimes depressing yet somewhat inspiring, thinking if he can do it, I shouldn't have a problem with it.
I think it was Eddy Van Halen who quoted that he never plays any of his solo's the same way, ever! Close but not the same. Weird huh!
Was it live or Memorex(CD)? Maybe my mind is going, Mymindisgoing, I remember reading that quote somewhere, Guitar mag, web site or something. I was suprised when I read it also. It was like what the heck, he created the solo, how can't he no how to play it the same way again. I guess maybe when your all liquired up and well medicated it doesn't seem like your playing it the same. :D
Guitar Player Interview:
GP: Do you repeat solos from night to night, or do you change them around?
EVH: I rarely repeat. Sometimes I remember the way I did it on the record and kind of follow it, unless they are melodic solos like in “Runnin’ With the Devil” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love”. You know, if I start noodling around, kids go, “Hey, that ain’t the same song!”

Hi guys,
I'm new here and was surfing on Youtube and eventually found this site. I too want to learn this solo and since it doesn't look like they are going to answer or respond, I went back to Utube and found this:

stairway to heaven. jeez, this is probably the only song I've ever been tired of before actually hearing it. It's been beaten to death. That and freedbird are like the mandatory songs to learn. To tell you the truth, I like Gary's slide parts WAY better than the actual solo itself. I wouldn't even rank stairway's solo in my top 10
