View Full Version : Problem with Domain Name

I can't connect to http://www.nextlevelguitar.com

I get domain name not found, but only at home on Qwest DSL. At work the name resolves and no problem. If I do a whois, I get no domain found unless I do the search on Internic.net. It looks like the domain name isn't propagating to all DNS servers. I've been hooking up by going to the IP address of http://69.64.69.36 but the CMS doesn't work via that route. Forums work though. Not sure what can be done, but I really want to join the site, but I can't really justify it if I can only connect from work (boss might get upset if I spend a few hours playing guitar at work :D ).

We switched to a new server Monday night. It takes 2-3 days for the new ip address to propagate completely across the internet. This may be why you can see the domain at work while not at home

Try rebooting your computer and routers. The old IP address could be 'cached' in your computer somewhere, or the Name/DNS servers haven't updated yet.

That makes sense. I knew that there was a new server, but I didn't realize that it was just a couple of days ago. I've rebooted my computers and the DSL modem and cleared all of the caches. Guess I'll just need to learn a little patience (not the song, well not yet anyway).

Thanks for the quick response. Definitely appreciated.

I was having all sorts of problems the other night trying to log in and access the lessons and I noticed that the site kept redirecting to the ip address... so it all makes sense now....
