Norwegian Death Metal

This may sound strange but can any of our NLG Norway friends, or even anyone explain to me what Death/Black Metal is?

All week I've been hearing people talking about it, and how it's strange but great listening. I listened to a Venom track but didn't quite get why it is called Death/Black Metal.

Death metal is from Sweden
Black is from Norway
I don't listen to it, as satanic lyrics doesn't appeal to my taste
Black metal is usually heavier, faster and more satanic then Death metal.
