hey people,
here is my equipment list ...
Audix DP8 Drum Mic Kit
Korg D-888 Hard Disk Recorder - up to 64 Virtual Tracks
2 Audix Cardiod Mics
-------------------------
Now here is my problem, i never was taught how to mic drums or properly mic guitars or amps really.
my and my band are already playing large shows but we play for free most of the time, i work daily as as a film editor but i work for small amounts of money, just enough to support the band and pay my bills ... not too much extra is ever left to go into recording studio and stuff.. i happen to have tons of equipment i purchased a long time ago when i was making bank.
anyways, i wanted tips from david and the users ...
for mic'ing guitar amps, acoustic guitars - i dont have electric acoustic so it makes it harder.
and when i record, i want to know whats the easiest way to start learning how to master ?
iv'e been using protools in the film/tv industry for years and know it quite well but i use it generally for live tv/film audio recording or for audio backups for later editing ...
never used it for mastering or anything music related.
any tips guys ? by the way our music style is like PRE-HardCore / Post Metal Core - I.e Haste The Day / Bleeding Through / As i Lay Dying / Bull For My Valentine style ...
any ideas or tips gents ?
