anyone have one of these beasts? i am tired of not being able to get the sound i want so i am going this weekend to try them out, but was wanting some other opinions. as of now i have a berhenger vampire with a digitech gnx4 and a ibanez rg550. i just cant find a good heavy metal type sound with it. so the search is on. i've been fighting with my amp and pedal for about 4 months now and im giving up. wait does that make me a quitter?

i am by no means good enough of a player to use a amp of this caliber , but someday i will be, so i might as well check them out now.

i am looking at the combo amps not the head and speaker ones, and i dont need tons of wattage, but i do want tubes..

The 602 is a much nicer amp, in my opinion.

Also, when im at home, some of the heaviest stuff I have ever written comes from my PC speakers ;) The amp really has nothing to do with heavy. Its how you play it ;)

i went and played the 401, 602 and the 100 watters and at the volume i will be playing at they all sounded horrible. instead i bought a used peavey 4/12 cab. man what a difference. using the patches for my digitech making it sound like a marshall, this thing freakin rocks. it sounds better now than any of the marshalls i tried today. but at the correct volume im sure the marshalls would be better sounding but i dont have a concert hall to play in avail. to me.

sometime in the near future i plan on making a test recording to check it out that i will post.
