Hey all,
I just got myself a MacBookPro Laptop. Anyone use one and know tips for recording? Garage Band is in there, but I haven't played with it yet.

I've been using Garageband to record my tuneless dittys and have found it to be really good, especially considering its mic is inside my mac somewhere. I've only used it for acoustic playing though, but will have a go running something through an amp to see what sort of real sound it gives.
A good beginners toy :)

1) don't try to use the internal mic. Get a cheap usb powered one or a usb input for a real mic if you have one already. My first time I actually used the microphone that came with my daughter's SingStar PS2 game. It has a usb adapter that you use for the mic's. Worked flawlessly with my acoustic.
2) don't use a mic at all! only if you are using an electric or acoustic/elec. Simply hook up guitar to amp as usual then a cord from the headphone output on the amp to the macbook (you'll need minijack adapter for this). It workes great and you can input a clean or dirty sound as it comes from your amp.
And garageband is way more than a beginner's toy. No its not logic pro but it is extremely powerful for 90% of musicians out there.
