Ok, so I decided to get a Fender Standard Stratocaster, now for an amp. What's a good practice amp? Does it have to be Fender? I would guess not, but I can't be for sure. I don't really want to spend anymore than $250.
All I need is a practice amp for now.

Here I go again...heheheh....Kustom Amps.
They have a 30 watt amp that will rattle your teeth if you crank it up.

I like the Vox Valvetronix line. There could be a couple in your price range.

Do you work for or have stock in Kustom Amps? :D
I went to music store yesterday, but they did not have any Kustom. :(
However, I did try out a Peavey ValveKing 50W 1x12, and funny thing as I was trying it out, I did not get above 2 on the volume, and all of a sudden POP! The amp stop working, oh my  , thought I owned it now. But an employee came over and said it was a fuse and that it was probably ready to go anyway. Now, I did find it strange that this amp, which I don't think has been put through it's paces that much would have something like that happen, but anything is possible. Therefore, I was skeptical about that model, and did think that 'disobedience' was sending me a voodoo spell because I was unable to try out a Kustom. In the end, I must say that the Peavey amp for as long as I did try it out was awesome, full of POWER.

If you like Fender, like me, the Fender Champion 30 is a great practice amp. With high gain, it has a terrible hummmmm to it, but for practice, you don't notice while playing. Don't get a small Champion (10,15,20 watts) they are built worse and need routine maintenence.

What genre of music do you want to play?

Getting a Fender amp does not necessarily make your Fender Strat sound way better than getting a different brand amp. Go to your guitar store and play around with amps around your price range and find one that you like.

Alot of practice amps now have built in digital settings so you might want to play around with those, or look for a plain simple tube amp.
Watch out for Behringers because they're a hit and miss, you could get a good one or one that blows easily. I also hear it's the same with some of the cheaper Marshall series.
Roland and Vox's micro amps and 15w practice amps seem to have alot of good reviews so you might check them out. Or look for a nice Fender practice amp in your range so that you can proudly show off your Fender set :D

I like marshall the most, but those are a pretty penny. I couldn't afford one so I went with a line 6 spider and I love it.

I want to be able to pick up my guitar and play whatever I'm feeling. I think that's one of the great things about strats. I notice david using a strat in 80% of his lessons.

well, line 6 has alot of different sound options on all of there amps. you may want to try them.

line 6 spider III has a clean channel, and three different distortion channels. It also has drive/overdrive, and i think 12 effects built into it.

Add another Vox supporter here. The valvetronix gives you 10-11 different amp models and some effects as well. I have the 15 watter but the 30 has a power attenuator that allows you to play and different volume levels without sacrificing tone.

As was mentioned before, check out their website for demos.

Rock on nice guitar. I have a fender Champion 30 unfortunatly they don't make it anymore. Here are a couple of links for some amps I would recomend.

I would recomend either one of these amps. Play some and see what you like.
