Anyone familiar with one of these. I picked one up used and I am wondering if there is a problem with it.
If I plug in to the headphone jack and out to amp or speakers there is sound. Good times!
If I plug in to the Output L (mono) or even R. There is no sound ouput to the speakers. Not cool.
I have tried all the output select options...
I am thinking I got took, doh

From owning the Boss GT-8, i have 1 guess for you.
there is a settings section where you can select what type of output you are gonna be using,. it has choices like headphones, or amp, or PA or etc.
maybee if you have it on the wrong setting it's disapling certain outputs.
just a thought. the book in the GT-8 really talked about that alot, although i never changed it as i only played out to an amp.

Thanks for the reply Marshall. I was thinking it was that as well, but I changed it to each one and it only works when plugged in to the phones jack. I will try it again just to make sure though. I will also go back through the manual to make sure I am changing it right. As far as I know, you just push the output select button and use the dial to select the one you want. Then you push the output select button again. Is that right?
Thanks again.

i think thats how it worked on the GT-8, i was just throwing an idea out there, but if you tried it , you mihgt be in trouble
1 more thought, they all have a facotry reset on them, i don't know where, you'll find out in the manual, try that befreo you give up!

I will give that a try. How are you liking your GT-8. Do you hook it up to your PC at all? That is the only thing that I wish it had that I cannot do too easily like on the Digitech one I was thinking about getting. I think that is the right one. Which ever one comes with the USB connection.

i bought one 6 months ago, kept it 3 months, then returned it for some stomp boxes, that i retuned for a fender deluxe.
now the fender deluxe is going back, for a blues Jr. and the GT-8, i think
it's ok. i like the 1959 lead marshall channel, very good. i find it difficult to use, and program, but once that's all set, it's really nice to breaze through differnt sounds. i got rid of it because it sucked the tone outta my marhsall stack, i'm getting it back becuase i just moved home from collage and can't crank it up all the time anymore, so it's gonnna be playing with alot of headphones, so i wanna have the variety of sound there.
also, i think if i spend the time, i can preprogram exaclty how i want each settting to sound, for specific songs, like each song i play can have it's own preset. i won't be using the distortions much, but the effects are great. i think if i run them through the effects loop, i could keep most of my marshall tone.
i wish the controls were more intuitive. and no, i hanv't had it hooked up to my computer, i'm not sure it does, i could imput through my JamMan Loop station, but i don't. i suck to much, maybee one day.

Cool. I do not really need to run it through the computer, but it would be cool if I ever wanted to record something. I believe you can transfer patches with MIDI cables, but I have not tried it.
The good news is that the reset you suggested worked. It now outputs using the L(mono) jack when set to Small Amp like it should.
Thanks for the advise

Ya, it doesn't happen to me very often, but I have heard good things about it. :) Thanks again
