I read that its a good practice or beginners amp, any thoughts? I cant seem to find the price for one, anyone know? I want an amp in the 100 to 150 dollar price range,so i can spend more on a guitar, or would it be a better idea to save a bit more for a more expensive amp(thing is i am really itchin to get one right now)? I dont need anything too loud, its just gonna go in my room but i do want it to sound good and have some decent features. Thanks guys.

for its price the ad15 is one of the best amps you can get. I have the 30watt version and I'm loving it.

The little Vox you are talking about is a great little amp, ZZsounds sellls them for $189.00 since it uses a tube rectifirier it has tube tone and drive I had the Valvetronic 30 which has some cool features not found on the 15, you can actually drive the amp hard ,but then lower the wattage output to the speaker so that when you are practiing at home and you can't crank it you can still get the true tube effect. TUbes sound best when you have some juice hitting them. If you do a google on the amp you are looking for, then check out all of the stores carrying it, find the lowest price then go to ZZsounds and use thier price spy and let them know what you found it for, they will beat it, so you might be able to get it closer to the $150 mark. But the Valvetronic series of amps are A+ Do your search as a Vox Valvetronic 15, I just did there was a place called birdland that sells it for 179.00 with free shipping, if you send the info and that price to ZZsounds, they might come back with 169.00 good luck

also just an FYI, valve amps and tube amps are the same thing, in the USA we call them tubes, overseas they call them valves so if that amp would have been made by Fender it would have been a Tubetronic.

I've got one of those. It's a good practice amp. A friend talked me into it because of all the 'effects' that come on it. In reality, I don't use any of them except the compressor. It has a lot of amp modeling on it that I mainly flip between to get different levels of distortion. I'd be much happier with a simplier amp and some pedals.

I really want to put a boss distortion pedal infront of it but heard it sounds bad with a dirty signal going into it. I'm thinking of getting the pedal and giving it a try though. If it doesn't sound good, this amp is going bye bye...

I understand what you mean about a simple setup, there are days where I just wish I had an american strat ran through a fender hot rod deville ;) That doesn't mean the Vox isn't a killer amp. it would really take something special to get me to ever part with my AD120vtx, and there is nothing currently available that would suffice.

Do you have to do a lot of adjusting on an amp with lots of effects to get a good sound? And BigSnake, if amp goes bye bye, how much will you sell it for?

These are great little amps and perfect for someone starting out. It was my first amp and I still have it and use it regularly. Here's a website with a couple hundred different settings that can help you find the tones you're looking for. Good luck

The effects work pretty well, just none of them I really like/use except compressor. I don't like the auto wah and would rather have a real wah pedal. Rather have a the Boss DS-2 as well.

Not really sure what the price will be when I sell. Might be a, "Get this amp and I'll trade" lol
