Today I'm shipping of my Oscar schmidt Delta King semi hollow body to the new owner. I'll miss her a bit but didn't really play her much. I traded for an acoustic dred(Songbird). I play a lot of acoustic so it should fit right in. Actually Whiskey I think it's heading up to your neck of the woods.

I just looked up that Delta King guitar... I wouldn't trade that for anything. It looks preeeetty.
But if you like acoustic more, I suppose it's a good deal. What does the acoustic look like?

Wow. That's nice.
Though I have one myself, I've never understood the appeal of an acoustic guitar. Mine sounds far too bassy. But an acoustic guitar would look awesome if the whole front-side was covered in that inlay pattern. Do acoustic guitars come in different colours?
And one thing I've always wondered... Apart from looking pretty, what is the point of an electric-acoustic guitar?

Mainly, so you can have an amplified acoustic, so you dont have to rely on a mic which can pickup ambiant sounds. Thats not saying that an acoustic pickup wont, but it will pickup less.
Acoustics are nice.. If you get a good one. Ive owned a few ovations, martins, taylors.. And really in all honesty, think the taylors are some of the best made acoustics ever made, aside from custom jobbers. The martins are nice also

Slow down Sheepster you'regoing to blow a gasket!;) I just love the sound of an acoustic plus I like that I don't have to fiddle with a patch cord and amps. It's so portable Yes you can get them in different colors like sunburst, black, red and a bunch of other colors but I like all of mine natural.

I have a friend who bought a blue acoustic. He said it sounded like crap. I asked what made him buy it. He said because it was blue. :(
Recently he bought a bass guitar. It was blue.
Sigh.

Heh. I was almost the same myself. Then I realised that an awesome colour doesn't make me sound any better. Shame. :(
I just love the sound of an acoustic...

Jesse,
I've never played a Taylor but do own a Martin and I like it very much. I also just picked up a Washburn J28SCEDL
http://www.washburn.com/products/acoustics/jumbos/j28.aspx
In the natural color. It's an acoustic electric and I can't put the darn thing down. The new Songbird is straight acoustic as is the Martin D28 copy I'm building at home.

I LUV that Washburn J28SCEDL. That is my next guitar without a doubt!!! I currently play the D10S, and I promised myself that if I got half way good at playing I would one day buy that J28 !!

Paul,
It plays like a dream to I've got the action about 2.5/32 from the top of the fret to the bottom of the strings, that's getting real close to electric action.
Sheepster,
No It isn't any cheaper to build then to buy if you are buying decent guitar but if you want a custom guitar with nice materials and upgraded wood yes it is. I'm building a Martin D28 copy with East Indian rosewood back and sides, with a sitka spruce top and I think I've got $500 into the guitar so far I'm ready to finish it now. I can post some picsif anyone is interested.

Hey blew, what finish is that? Don't think I've seen that yet. I got a Cherry finish OE 30 last year and really like it. Congrats on the new acoustic, looks like you made yourself a good deal there.
