I got an Epiphone Les Paul and I love it! But I got a problem and that is that my guitar strap is something falling off when I play, even if don't do anything really wild. I have had a few cases I've almost had the guitar hit the ground and all I could do was to grab it by the neck to prevent it from happening. I am wondering if there is something wrong with my guitar strap. I went to the guitar store and asked if there was a solution for this and I was offered two small black plastic things I have no idea how to use. Does anyone know what these might be? They are black and have a hole in them, but the hole is too small to make it fit onto the guitar. The idea I think is that it will prevent the strap from falling off, but I just don't see how it is possible. Could it be my strap that is weird and should I get a new one (thought of getting a new one anyway. I want a leather one.) or will these black plastic things help any?

Maybe that wasn't the best description available for my situation, but the best I can offer at this moment :P If I ever would try a stunt like throwing my guitar on the back and play you would see me throwing my guitar across the stage instead. It is a really annyoing problem and I am afraid if I don't get to fix it soon I might have an accident with my guitar one day. I really don't want that to happen over a guitar strap problem

Here's your solution:
There are two major brands that I know of, Schaller and Dunlop.
They are a two piece coupler/lock system. One piece attaches to the strap, the other replaces the mount on the guitar.
I use the Schaller brand and am very happy with them.
Go to your nearest music store and for about $20 your problem is reliably solved. ($20 is nothing compared to a possible drop of the guitar) They work great.

I have DiMarzio strap locks. Not the coolest looking, but it works.

I had the same problem Sanity.... i would do a whole mess of over the shoulder tricks with my guitar and the strap lock popped out and would go back in. My brother gave me this thing, it could be something like the Dunlop straplock system but it wasn't.... he gave me this plastic screw type of thing, and you hammer it into the hole where the screw goes, then you screw the screw into that.... still rock solid security.

yep, strap locks, would not strap on one of my guitars without them. I had a Schelur??? (spelling) fail once after about 3 years, the little bearings just worked loose and it fell apart, my guitar swong towards the ground like a big axe being held by the tip of the handle, I caught it before it hit anything, changed my pants and bought another set. The strap locks that come with the Deluxe Fenders, lock but then also sit in a craddle so even if the lock fails the strap is still holding the guitar

same problem mine was fixed with 2 rubber brands. I straped my strap and hooked in my whammy bar. Put 2 rubber bands on the strap button near the bottom and made them stay by slidding them trough the whammy bar and it never felled of again and it only cost me like 2 dollars!

I don't know who makes them, but ive seen these round disc-like things you just twist on over your strap bud and it holds it there tight. The probably cost 50 cents and dont have to modify your guitar. I wish I could tell you what they are and who makes them, but I didn't ask when I was shown. Maybe do a little googling.

The problem is your back strap (tail pin) "is upside down" and it can wiggle it self loose. When you put on your guitar look at your back strap and make sure it is facing the correct way. Happens to me.

the little black plastic things work great for acoustic guitars, for electrics get a good set of metal strap locks, you have to unscrew your guitar strap post (save them ) and screw in the new ones attach the other pieces to the strap and thats it. I don'' know if Fender sells the ones that they put on their American deluxe series, but if they do, they are probably the best ones out there, like someone else posted, even if the lock fails, the strap part is a little craddle.

Strap locks is the answer I use Dunlop.
