I was just wondering what everyone thought of the 1/2 time show?

I've never heard much from Prince before. I just knew of the really big songs, just enough to hum along to. I wasn't expecting much, so I was quite surprised. I enjoyed it. Especially when he went into those cover songs.

And then to top it off, everything went purple while it rained. Quite fitting, I thought. :)

I'd rate it up there as one of the best half-time shows I've seen. Then again, I've only seen 4 of them.

I think Prince sucks. I like Purple Rain but he cant play live. He cant sing and he ruined a Foo Fighters sone during the halftime show. He needs to stick to his Vegas shows because in my opinion all he is good for is playing Mediocre shows in vegas.

Personally I liked it. He's one of my favourate guitarists for his total control of the instrument. Liked his performance with Tom Petty when they did While My Guitar Gently Weeps too at the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame.

I don't think he really ruined the songs myself. He did his own take on All Along the Watchtower, and while Best Of You seemed thrown in there, it's not exactly a song you can ruin. Really. What's the difference between Dave Grohl screaming and Prince screaming?

in my personal opinion i never liked prince......ever. he had one chance to show me his overall talent and i say bring out janet jackson again. ok not really, but still i would have to say in my opinion and all those who were gathered around my big screen, it was the worst half time show in the history of football!

The difference is Dave Grohl can scream and sing rock n roll. Prince not only cant sing rock n roll, he cant even sing his own songs well. He is a terrible vocalist and a mediocre guitar player.

Wow. If that is mediocre guitar playing, then I would give anything to be average.

I just found it on YouTube, for those who haven't seen it. This is part 3... the Purple Rain section in its entirety. The same user has the first two parts uploaded as well.

I thought the giant silhouette on the white sheet was awesome.

By mediocre I mean he isnt that great for a professional musician and he makes way too much money for how good he is. He should be making a hell of a lot less. But, to call him a professional guitar player I would compare him to Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Paul Frehley, Slash and every other amazing professional guitarist. He is mediocre compared to them.

Maybe you're right. They throw those Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductions around so frivolously....
Rolling Stones #28 on the top 100 Greatest Artists of All Time and #5 in the Top 25 Pop Artists in the past 25 years.
31 Awards, 64 Nominations

Personal tastes aside... everyone has an opinion. But not everyone tries to pass them off as fact.

Like him if you will many people do, but he still isnt a great guitarist. He should be in the Hall of Fame because he has sold a lot of albums and does have a lot of fans. But its not the Musicianship Hall of Fame, its the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Basically if you can sell an album enough, you can get in. Most awards are based on numbers not abilities. My point, he isnt a great musician. With the exception of a few of his songs, he isnt good. His voice used to be a lot better though. I saw a live video of him from maybe 10 years or so ago and he wasnt that bad. The Superbowl halftime show wasnt good though.

Induction to the HoF has absolutly nothing to do with sales. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist’s contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll. They are voted on by about 1000 rock experts from around the world.
