Hey,
I asked this question before, but my account disappeared and reappeared a couple days later. Anyway, I've been playing acoustic for almost a year ago, and i want to get an electric. Don't have much money and want to play right away, so I'm leaning towards like a starting kit.

They are, respectively, a Epiphone Les Paul, Squier Strat, and Ibanez IJX40. Dunno what to choose. Thanks for helping out.
PS, some people say its better to just get a better guitar, amp and cable. Thoughts?

not sure about the other ones, but that fender amp blows the big one. an amp 10x better can be had for about $150. amps are a big deal, especially if u already know how to play guitar. skip the package stuff. just buy the amp and guitar seperate. and again, it seems like u already know how to play some so step out of the "beginner" guitar box. a MIM strat is very affordable and is much better quality. the les paul is a good one too. i guess it depends on if u play something bluesy or something really rocking.
oh yea, u can probably swing a deal at the shop to get a tuner and/or guitar chord thrown in if u buy the guitar and amp together. u dont get that kind of service from online stores.

If you must get a starter pack than its a simple matter of deciding which guitar you like better.... les paul, strat or shredding machine :P
I'd recommend forgetting the starter pack and putting all your cash into the guitar. $250 can buy a great used guitar if you watch craigslist or ebay. An amp can wait unless you plan on gigging right away.

You do what you will, but I believe others will agree with me when I say if you can afford $200 you might as well keep playing acoustic and continue saving your money so you can get a nice rig. You can get a nice guitar for $300 and an amp for $100-150. Doing that will definitely pay off in the long run.

If your getting one of those packs I'd go for the squire fat strat pack on that site. More choice of tones from the guitar.

I agree with james. Those starter kits aren't much at all in the way long life. You will be much happier if you purchase seperatly.

I say to just ahead and get a higher quality guitar and amp. If you get a good guitar and amp, they will last you a long time and you will not have to constantly upgrade. But if money is a problem, then I would just go with the Squire Strat pack. They look just like an american strat, they sound pretty good, and they are made by fender, and not by those copy-cat brands. Mine has not given me much trouble at all yet.
