Hey just for starters here is a site with a bunch of tone settings for different amps. Hope you find something that works for you.

Eh I dunno, the best way to get good tone is to sit there, and turn your knobs while you are playing. Youll find somthing you like.. A little bit means a WHOLE LOT in return ;)

Agreed Jesse!
The best tone is the one that is "Yours".
And the only way to get that is by playing the "Lets see what this button does" game.

Yeah, I'm slightly puzzled about seeking out amp settings. For the better part of the last century players would simply set all controls at neutral and then adjust to their liking from there.
I initially place all knobs at mid throw then work them one at a time. Too easy!

In general I agree with you both, however a little hint can go a long way. I use these type settings as general guidelines and as a place to begin the search for what works for me. I guess they are more of a starting point than a destination. For beginners of new amps or effects boxes (whichever applies) they can provide a good headstart in finding a specific tone.
