I really like what you fellas are doing at NLG. I've been checking out your video lessons on the site as well as youtube and they are just great. I'm not a paid member as of yet but I'm thinking about it. Ya see I just cancelled a membership from another lesson site that was well...less than satisfactory. They had lots of information, almost too much information but absolutely no organization. So it basically didn't help at all because I didn't know where to go from where I was at. So Dave, how bout a 1 week preview of all the goodies you got? That way some of us who are on the fence can see how you are gonna help us go from where we are to the NEXT LEVEL!!! Maybe like a once a year thing where you open the site to all for a sneak peak or by an individual basis. Could open the door to lots of new paying memberships. Anyway keep on rockin' and keep up the good work. Hope you consider my suggestion.

dub as I paying member I can tell you it's definitely worth it. David is an excellent teacher and his lessons are very organized.

Hey there... If you like the song lessons you'll love the lessons overall.

Not to be a pessimist of anything, but would having a "free week" be fair to already paying members?

I had/have some memberships to several different online courses and had the same problem that you mentioned no real flow to the information, no patteren of building blocks to work through. This site is more like having a guitar teacher giving you paid lessons that you show up for every week and learn in a logical order, the real differance is that where I live paid lessons are $55.00 per 4 half hour lessons, (so about 15 mins of learning new stuff times 4) I have worked through the first 78 lessons so far and have seen more progress than I had in the past 3 years of going it alone and using other websites. Also if you pay for a month and during that time decide that you want to sign up for a year, you just sign up for a year and then let them know and they refund you the month that you had paid for, so for $29.00 you can take a month to decide, it took me 3 days to upgrade from a month to a years membership.... and most of us can blow 30 bucks without even thinking about it.

All you need to do is look at the titles of the first hundred lessons to see what type of orginization exists here. You've seen what Davids teaching style is in the Song Lessons. So you pretty much have the information you need to decide wheter you want your first month or not.

yea Whiskey's right on. There's more than enough "free lessons" on the website to give you an excellent idea of what you'll be paying for. I just sold my guitar to get a membership......joking.

or would burger king let you take a bite out of whopper to see if you wanted to order it?

or would a furniture store let you spend the night on one of their beds?

or would a car dealership let you drive a car around the block???? ..... oh, wait... nevermind.. :D

I think the problem with guys wanting a try before you buy is they are more than likely young with no extra money to pay 30 bucks a month so when you go from free content which we all appreciate, to 30 bucks a month they just cant afford it, or just wont pay it, now if it was say 15 bucks a month im sure a lot of those guys would stump up the cash, and they would probably get at least 6 months worth of membership, instead of one month or none. But good content costs money thats why David and Tim have priced the membership this way, and you cant get everything in this life for free.

I too am looking forward to joining but haven't yet because I can't find out any information on what is provided in a membership that you can't already get in the free lessons.

True; there are more than 100 free video song lessons (Thanks Dave & Tim!) but does a paid membership go into more detail on these lessons or are there a larger selection to choose from?

What are the other benefits? From an altruistic point of view, I'll join up for a year just to support D&T with their free lessons but would really like it spelled out what goodes that $139 will get me that isn't already available?

Love the site and the idea! Rock on Dave & Tim!

The way I see it, you already got the free samples in front of your face. If you like what you see and want to test drive the whole enchilada, try a month. It's not expensive, then decide. There are payment options. This is the real deal, David and Tim deliver what they promise. It's your choice....................... rock-on.............. :D markerdown

I would like to point out that you can see what every lesson is tittled without a paying memebership. The titles kind of let you know what is in the lesson. Example: Lesson 33 Intro to Chord Changing using the SHARED FINGERS technique or Learn a II-V-I-VI JAZZ PROGRESSION - learn about key signature and MUSIC THEORY

http://www.nextlevelguitar.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=3&id=13&Itemid=31

If you were to know what was in the lesson then you might not need to take that lesson. Thats sort of how it works. Oh...wait thats exactly how it works. I really like the bit of a burger. This site is very cheap for the yearly rate and a $30 one month is very nominal.

I would like to know if I brought my bacon and eggs to Denny's would they cook it for me?

If you haven't noticed there are like 5 or 6 free lessons now on the main site for people to check out and see what the lessons are like. If you just can't afford it, it's time to get a job or start being nicer to your parents!

Wow, I didn't mean to infer that I wanted to freeload! Jeez, far from it. In fact, even if the site had nothing more to offer with a membership, I would sign up anyway just to support Dave & Tim!

It was a simple question; what other site features do members gain access to that non-members are not?

I now withdraw the question seeing as how some took this the wrong way.

Regards

If you are refrencing my post please don't think I'm upset at all. I was just stating you can easyly see what is in the lessons. There are free sample lessons on the home page now. What more do Dave and Tim have to do? I certainly hope you don't think I was being hostile. I just wanted to point out that the info is available. Also we are pretty protective of Dave and Tim. This is a hot toppic. In a week or two somebody else will ask about a free week or trial period. It wasn't you its just that its a horse that gets beat a lot. I thought the bite of a burger before you buy was to funny to pass up too. haha

Love the avatar by the way.

Bounty,

No offense taken bud. I probably could have worded the post a little better.

As for the avatar, it's supposed to be animated. I'm wondering when Dave or Tim is going to ask me to remove it ;)

Welcome to the forum

It is interesting how emails and forum posts can be taken in so many different ways. I am often straight to the point. When there is no inflection a simple post or email can be taken as harsh or ungrateful, rude or worse.

That is why I love this video revolution you can hear and see the person
and then you place that with a post or email it gives you a better idea of what the tone is.

To elaborate on the site the premium members are given access to over 200 video lessons. Which cover Technique, theory, timing, equipment, songwriting and alot more. We add more every week.

The Video song lessons are all free you do not need to pay to access those.

If you chose to join for a month for $29 and decided to upgrade to a year plan we credit back the $29 so in effect you would get 1 free month

if you join for 1 year it breaks down to $11.58 cents per month which David and I feel is reasonable for the amount of content we provide

Here in San Diego it is $8 bucks to see 1 movie and I have tried to get my money back there
lol

ROCK ON

If you expand your service you might be able to do one or two lawns after school 3 days a week and probably 4 or so on Sat. that would give you an extra $100 bucks a week, you could sign up, save up for better guitar, amp ect... man you just might have something there. :-)

Mowing lawns does indeed suck. But, welcome to the real world, friend. When you're older and maybe working in a car plant or something like that, you will look back with great fondness on your times mowing a few lawns in the great outdoors.
And maybe mowing a few lawns won't suck as much when you're a rock god and all those lucky ladies are just falling over themselves to be with you. :D and, in any case, you really do appreciate much more that which is hard won.

Your getting ripped off. You can (and SHOULD) charge at LEAST $25 now a days for a lawn. Raise your price. For a quarter acre you should get at least $25, for larger lawns raise your price accordingly.
