Got Strat Zapped

I was playing some tunes and the wife walked up and touched me. We both got zapped. I venture to say that this shouldn't be normal. The axe plays fine. Problem ground somewhere maybe?

Well lets start with the basics.
Your amp? Is it not grounded right as Ace Frehely once got electrocuted when walking of stage before.
Your cable? Is it worn out?
Your guitar? Is it cheap and is there something lose inside (e.g. wire)

Do you have carpet? You could of got carpet shocked as that happens a lot to me in guitar center when I am playing guitar.

He got shocked really bad, its in a issue of guitar world somewhere. I remembered it said he was on stage playing but he lost his balance in the high heels and went to grab the rail going down the stage and the rail wasn't grounded right and he got zaped. He remembered the roadies took him to hospital but after that I can't remember what happened. But he survived it was a long time back.

my old amp(tubed) had a polarity switch on the back of the head...if you got shocked(like a static zap) you flipped the switch...my new digital amp doesn't have that switch so i don't know if that means anything...but it did back then.
