Hi! well I'm new in this guitar world and my question is, how to prevent rust on my guitar strings because I live by the sea. Or how often do I have to change them? Oh! and which are the best strings for an acoustic guitar I use metal strings. :)

You should always clean your guitar and your strings after your done playing it. Be sure not to clean your strings, then use the same cloth to clean your guitar, because those little particles that you might pick off the strings will scratch the body of your guitar. There are several good sprays out there, lizard spit makes sprays for everything on a guitar. As far as strings, I use Ernie Ball Earthwood Acoustic Mediums 80/20(.013 .017 .026 .036 .046 .056). Strings are only $5/pack buy a couple packs of different brands and gauges and see what you like. Since you own an acoustic get the bronze strings made for acoustic

a COuple things, first always clean your strings when you are done playing, Kyser Stringfellow, FInger Ease.. there are lots of different products. You might try uisng Elixir polyweb strings they are a bit more expensive but have a coating on them that helps make them last. As far as how often to chage strings, I would say when the start rusting its a good sign that you need to change them.

Hey guys thanks for the advice, I bought a fender set of strings I think they pretty good, the bad thing was that I had to few options, see here where I live is very difficult to find specific things and to beggin with theres only three music shops in Veracruz so I came out pretty good finding this set of strings (.008 .011 ...and so on)
So again thanks and hope to hear from you very soon.
