Does anyone have a rare, signed or collectors guitar?

I personally don't, but a close friend of mine owns an original 1962 Gibson Dove. It is so rare, Gibson didn't even have one. They found out that she did, and asked if they could borrow it, and resurrect the Dove line again off the design of her guitar. So she sent it to them and they reverse engineered it to re-create the Dove guitars. I can honestly say I've never played such an amazing guitar than that one. I was happy just to hold it.

I have a personally signed ESP KH2. Signed in 02 by Kirk himself, in silver metallic sharpie. This guitar never gets played, never gets viewed, it sits in its case for me to appricate.

I may snap a pic of it sometime for you guys to see

I've got a rare one for ya. In the 30's and early 40's Gibson came out with the Kalamazoo line, kind of a lower budget instrument line to keep sales up, sort of like Epiphone today. I've lived in the Kalamazoo area my whole life, (where Gibson started for those who don't know) and always had an intrest in this bit of history. About 15 years ago, when I had only been playing about 4 years and not very swell, I was in Elderly Instruments in Lansing and came across one. They didn't know much about it, and the top was a little warped, but it played good and I had to have it. It was only $160, but I was a poor waiter/college student at the time, but I had a Discover card and I never thought twice.

Now the interesting part. I've played that guitar all this time, though not as much since I got an Oscar Schmidt acoustic/electric about 9 years ago. Well with the advent of the internet and ebay I was able to learn more about the Kalamazoo line and see what these old girls were worth. Found out mine is pretty rare, only made in '40 - '41. Gibson based them on the L-0. Mine has and "Oriole" emblem on the headstock, and that was mostly a mandolin line. Still plays great, top has been warped with some missing finish since I got it. Not bad for a 65 year old guitar, and who knows where its been. I could get 500 - 600 bucks on ebay or more, but I'll never sell. It was probably $15.00 brand new.

Enough talk, here's the photos,

I hear ya man lol... When i started playing guitar, i was real heavy into metallica. Hammet really appealed to me, in his playing style, and i always wanted to meet him, and get a guitar like him. When ESP Released the KH2, I went and bought one, never played it, and was bound and determined to have kirk be the first one to play it. I set it up, and put it back in its case. A couple years later I got to meet him, he signed it, and played it for about a half hour, saying "wow". I have a few pictures around here of him signing it, and us both holding it. Somewhere in some boxes they lay lol.

Ill dig em out one day ;)
