View Full Version : Forgive father for I have sinned

I've been reading through loads of threads on here and the request forum and seems like everyone is just too cool for school, pink floyd, zepellin, the who, etc etc.
Here is your chance to confess to the not so cool bands that I KNOW are hiding in the depths of your i-pod playlists. You know what I'm talking about, those guilty little pleasures, the ones that you deny all knowledge of and swear that you " didn't put that on there"
I'll start
My name is Jo, I am of sound mind, and I wish to confess to willingly and knowingly downloading the following bands on to my i-pod:
Mcfly
Wham
Take That
and many many more
Please do not judge me, I promise that I will get help.................
Right after this song finishes......
...Wake me up before you go go.... .

You say Blues Brothers as if its a bad thing. I have both of their CDs and lets face it, they arent bad.
For me, I dont really have any music I am ashamed of. Though I am reluctant to list Disney songs that I have.

Forgive me father,For I have sinned
Find me guilty of the life I feel within
And when I'm branded
This mark of shame
Should I look down disgraced
Or straight ahead
And know that you must blame
Metallica's- Torn Within.
Worse I have on my play list is Green Day.
I use to listen to Eiffiel 65 when I was 6 I do admit

I really like catchy pop tunes. I'm a real sucker for them. You know, those really manufactured well-produced songs with a hook that could catch the most hard-nosed death metal fans.
Those of you in the UK might know Girls Aloud. God, they're catchy tunes... and the girls are pretty too. That's about my biggest 'guilty pleasure' at the moment. I saw them live at a festival last year!!

Check out Duran Duran's guitarist, Andy Taylor. He is excellent. He had a few solo albums in the 80's that absolutely rocked. He was also the guitarist for the band "Power Station".
If you get past some of the synth pop stuff, Duran Duran made some pretty good music (yes, I own a few albums).

my taste is really caotic... I often listen to u96 or enigma... or just some house and techno music, especially when I must drive car for hours. Oh, and Mike Oldfield, but he has a guitar!
but after a few hours I really feel the urge to put in sepultura or katatonia :D

I agree, the power station stuff with robert palmer was really good. I also caught a recent Duran Duran concert at wembley arena on TV. It was very good, they gave more of a rock spin on all the classics.

Well maybe a HOMOSAPIAN! Where did that come from anyway?
On to more important things
Me myself and I was into the Christian Heavy Metal scene for many years. Stryper was and still is one of my favourite bands! I don't care who knows it both Michael Sweet and Oz Fox are extremely gifted guitar players and are still rockin on!
I have and still listen to Bob Segar, CCR,Toto,Night Ranger, No Doubt (Gwen Stefani), and many many others.
I don't think that what we listen to is a case of "having skeletons in the closet or dark secrets" so to speak. I am sure everyone of us on here has music that each one of us if we were alone would say why do you listen to that crap? Am I right? It's all good, we all have different influences in our playing and each one of us tries to master a certain sound or style. I know how to play Christmas songs, childrens songs, old country songs and I am a true metal head, ever heard Jingle Bells in heavy metal lol and not Carol of the Bells by Trans-Siberian Orchestra lol. That is just what appealed to me at one time or another but it also makes your playing more diverse. Speaking of Metallica I think my all time favourite album from them would have to be S&M with the symphony to me that is metal at its best exploring both sides of the pond and putting them together. But that's just me

Haha..yeah ur rite, I shouldn't jump to conclusions. Anyhoo, I'm loathe to admit that I've been trying to teach myself how to play "Breathe" by Faith Hill. I'm not afraid to show my inner HomoSapien. :p

LOL that's a good song anyway, That's the best thing about country music it is usually only 3 chords and then a bridge chord. I like the song My Maria by Brooks and Dunn that is a cool tune to play as well.

Well I listen to anything and everything, from show music like Dean Martin kind of stuff to 50's swing to hippy music to 80's hair metal and arena rock, to 90's grundge and punk to modern emo and alternative, so there's plenty of music in my winamp playlist that I wouldn't go around telling people I have.
