George and Leo. George Fullerton and Leo Fender. I had the ASAT model (until I sold it  ) That was a bad move .

G&L is the company that Leo Fender started after he sold Fender, the G&L Tribute series guitars are great for imports and every bit as good if not better than most MIM Fenders, I have owned 2 of the an ASAT and an Invader perimun XL, the INvader is the only guitar I have ever regreted selling. They are made over seas using CNC processing, but they use all Made in USA electronics from Fullerton St. (where the AMerican G&Ls are made) so the pickups, pods etc are much higher quality that the MIM guitars. Some people call them "the real Fenders" I was talking to one of the salesmen at my local music store (a Fender dealer that does not carry G&L) and he said he would rather have the G&L import over the Fender import because of the workmanship and electronics. I think that you would be really happy with one.You get a lot of bang for your buck and good quality.
I just went and looking at the guitar you are thining of getting, I played around with one just like that when I bought my ASAT, I think that you will really be impressed with it if you get it, its a great guitar. It was a little heavy for me having the Swampash body, but it had great sustain and playability. I am older and have back problems so I kinda have to lean towards the lighter weights. on a 1 to 10 I would give a MIM Strat about an 8 and a G&L about a 9.5 I think that you would see a lot more people buying them if they could compare them side by side to a MIM,

i recently picked up a Tribute legacy a few weeks back and i can honestly say that at first i was a bit torn between a mim strat and the G&L i went with the G&L and couldnt be more pleased with it . Truley fantastic sounding guitar not to mention it comes with a great gigbag included. Fantastic value for the price.
