This is one of the greatest games ever to grace the PS2/XBox. Who here has played it? I own both GH1 and GH2, and I'm quite good at it. I can complete all songs on the 'Hard' level. Being able to play "Free Bird" makes me a very happy person.

Apart from being awesome fun, I do find these games rather interesting. You'd think that, with a guitar-shaped controller, people who are good at guitar would be good at playing the game.

I am a musical person, and can play guitar. I also do well at Guitar Hero.
I have a friend who also plays guitar, but doesn't know much about the theory behind it. He doesn't do so well.
I have a friend with no musical rhythm at all. He's awful at Guitar Hero.

This is possibly as you'd expect. But then;

My brother has no musical ability. He couldn't even play a recorder in school. Yet, he is awesome at Guitar Hero. Almost as good as me.
Then I have a friend who's in a band that has played paying local gigs. He's only a rhythm guitarist, and thinks his bandmate is more accomplished, but he can keep time and play embellished chords. He's really awful at Guitar Hero. Can't even keep up with the notes.

Enough waffling. How good are you people at Guitar Hero?

You hold one of the "frets" down, and have to strum it with the strum bar, which can move up or down. Sometimes, you'll have to play a "chord" where you need to hold multiple "frets" down before strumming. It even allows for hammer-ons and pull-offs. So, no, it's not exactly like playing a guitar. But it kinda is, with only 5 frets instead of 22.

I really enjoy Guitar Hero I and II, and it's currently one of my favorite games on PS2. It's not really like playing a guitar, but it's somewhat close and still lots of fun. A game for every guitarlovers!

everyone real guitar player that i have talked to hates the game. would rather spend the time on a real song rather than pressing the right buttons on a video game. i've never played it but i hate it when people see my guitar and ask "hey dude, u ever play guitar hero??" no thanks

I own GH1 and the only 2 songs that kill me are Bark at the Moon and Crossroads(Hard and Expert mode), but all the other songs on it I can pretty much play with my eyes shut yes even on hard and expert. Let's just say I've played it so much I have most of the buttons memorized.

What? Even Cowboys From Hell on expert?! You, sir, are a freak of nature.

I do enjoy a bit of Crossroads on expert though.

It's the only time I feel like I can actually play anything...breaks my guitar related depression.

guitar hero is hard. playing real guitar is easier than playing anything on hard mode.

I have GH2 and have played most of GH1. I'm mostly through Expert mode on GH2 and, I think, it's Psychobilly Freakout I'm stuck on.

Guitar Hero, once you get use to it, is WAY easier than real guitar. You don't have to fret a specific string, just an entire fret and there are only 5 buttons.

I don't really play it much anymore. Only when we get a bunch of friends together and we're all drinking, then guitar hero is coming out.

I've got used to playing that solo, and that's the one thing that brings me back to GH1. I love it more than any other. I reckon I should try to learn it for real...

And yes, Guitar Hero is a great multiplayer, party game.
