I find it real distracting when I have to sit through a show watching a guitarist play with ONE string dangling from his head stock. And he started the show like that. Why couldn't he clip it beforehand? What statement is he possibly making with one dangling string? I remember the time I saw this one guy who had all six strings flailing about, but his hair totally matched his strings and it worked for him. And that metal guy who had his D & G strings in the shape of horns off the end of his guitar which was wicked cool. But why have one string dangle? Hang on, what song did he just play? Dammit!... I was so busy pondering one string that I didn't even hear what song this guy just played.

Clip the string!

I think all strings should be clipped. My housemate has a guitar, and he never clips the strings after restringing. Ugh. It drives me insane. I feel like crawling into his room at night with a pair of nail-clippers...

yeah people should clip there strings if they dont want poked in the eye. i never clipped my strings for a few days a month ago because i couldnt find wire cutters and i always seemed to whack myself in the face or somthing with them.

If one doesn't have a tool handy to clip their string, one can simply wrap the string into a wee small loop the size of a quarter, say.

one should never change his strings if he/she doesn't have clippers handy. I don't like it either. It looks so unorganized!

I think if thats all you guys are worried about in somone elses playing, then you should re-evaluate your stance on music ;)

Shouldnt matter if they cut there strings or not, if they play good who cares, if they play bad, who cares.. lol.. if thats what you like to do, cut your strings.. if not, eh.. im not going to loose any sleep over it ;)

One's playing has nothing to do with my gripe. I just find ONE dangling string distracting. Six doesn't bother me. But to clip 5 and leave 1 doesn't make any sense to me.

I didn't clip mine on my acoustic because I couldn't find my wire cutters so I just coiled them in loops. I've just left it that way Don Ross style.

See, that's fine. It looks pretty when it's wound in loops. Even just one loop on its own looks kinda eccentric. And that's cool.
