I'm thinking about buying one. I like the look of the sunburst strat but I want some opinions cause I want to get a nice guitar but not to pricey.

it depends what you think too pricey is. MIM Fenders are great guitars for the price, there are lots of different options, models, pickup configuraations, and neck styles, I have a Fender American Deluxe Strat its the best playing sounding guitar I have ever owned, but where you can get a MIM from around $400 to $650, One like mine runs more in the $1100 to $1200 range. Also if you can find one of the older MIJ models, some of them are just awesome.

do the MIM strats have different neck options? I was under the impression they only came with one size.

I can not be sure, I would go to the Fender web site and check them out, I know that there are mod C, v neck, and a couple other vintage but I am not sure which ones come on the mim, my guess would be it depends on what series you are looking at.

I've played Gibson's for a long time. Last year bought a Fender Telecaster with maple neck. It's by far, the best guitar I have ever played. It has the "C" shaped neck, which I thought would be too big, but it's not, it really fits my hand well. This tele can sound like a Strat or vintage tele, due to the 4 way switch.

I've seen some Japanese Fender's that were pretty good as well. I don't think you can go wrong, just make sure it feels right to you!

fender makes great telecasters and stratocasters but if you want better sound go with the strat u want, they arent so expensive unless you want a deluxe or smt like that

hmm.. Unfortunately, I have always had a pretty big beef with Fender, so personally I would suggest to try some other brands without that name on the headstock, because it is something that you can unfortunately end up paying for. If you are a fan of the Stratocaster style, try a G & L Tribute Legacy or S500. G & L (meaning George and Leo...Fender) is a company started by fender after he sold the Fender company, so you are getting many of his improved designs, bindings, and electronics for a lower price than something comparable in the Fender name. You might find it to be worth your time...

A note though is that the G&L brand is generally expensive, upwards of $1500, but the G&L tribute (like Gibson to Epiphone) start at around $600 CDN. Honestly, try them out with an open mind and open ears, you might be surprised

But that's just my $0.02!

Good luck.

I have had a G&L Tribute series guitar, not the strat style but the Invader Prem. they are great imports and I would put them right up there or maybe even a little better than a MIM Fender. THey are made overseas using CNC manufacturing methods but they use USA made electronics and pickups form Fulerton St. the same place that the American G&Ls electronics come form, so you get an import price with American made electronics which are way better than the mexican electronics used in the Fenders.

Does anyone have an opinion on the new Fender VG stratocaster... im looking into buying it because of the roland technology on it and also its just a normal American Series strat if you turn off all the extra stuff...so if someone has played one please tell me about what you think

Fenders are great. I'm in love with mine. One of the best sounding guitars, but make sure you have a good amp right? I strongly suggest fender.
