Ok,this is confusing me but i do no what a power chord is and how to play one,but when i read tabs for certain songs it lists the chords say


E5 G5 watever

one problem,call me an idiot but how do i no where to play the chord? can somone explain this to me,still a noob :P

anyways heres what im trying to play EDIT: Came from the top, NO TABS

and heres a video of some guy playing it,at 57 seconds to 1 min an 14 seconds is what imt rying to learn,unless it shwos the tabs somwhere eles plez help a guitar noob out,anyways heres the link to the video aswell

go to google and type in E5 chord. many pages will come up with where to put your fingers. do that with any chord u dont know.

Power chords are easy. They are usually played on three strings, and they're usually the three low strings, or the next three strings. E5 would be 022xxx. G5 would be 355xxx. You just float that position anywhere up the fretboard so that the lowest fret you hold your finger on is the root note of the chord. x577xx would be the D5 chord, because the 5th fret on the fifth string is the D note.
