This is Damone's cover of the classic Billy Squire song. I really like this version cuz of the heavy Gibson sound they bring to it. Billy Squire's version is a Strat sound.
Couple notes... I had virtually nothing to go on to learn this song. So good luck finding usuable tab (incl. Squier's version) -- it's ALL worthless. And good luck finding video too. Of course there's Damone's produced video but all the fast video cuts make it unusable to learn this song. Hence, the reason I posted this song to the showcase....
Let's not forget that I too am a student following Dave's teachings. Here's the skills I had to employ to learn this song:
1. Ear training -- not just what to play, but also the tone and volume
2. Timing
3. String muting
4. String bending & pull-off's
5. The importance of staying in position to play what follows
This song is essentially based around the bridge in the middle. It has to be perfect or the song is crap. Everything before & after...well, it still has to be perfect but nowhere near as perfect as the bridge has to be.
Oh yeah, one more thing. You folks will love this. After the D chords in the verse I'm playing a little 6-note lick starting on the high E string. If it looks familiar that's because it is. It's the same lick from AC/DC's Back In Black. Only I'm playing it at half speed and adding a pull-off to the bend (where Malcome Young would return the bend back to it's original position). Hey, I had to use something there! :)
I think I'm getting pretty good at bending the neck of my guitar to get that tremelo sound. I seem to be using that technique a lot lately.
