Any guitar shop should be able to replace the nut for you payson :)
It's not a difficult job just a little time consuming to file it down properly.

you can upgrade to bone or there is also a manmade product that is better than the plastic, but I can't remember what it is called

Graphtec nuts or Tusq nuts are great actually... if you approach any decently sized music store, they should be able to provide it for you.

Go for the Graphtec.

If your puting it on yourself, you shouldn't use wood glue or anything that will bind to your neck so you'll never get it off. Regular white glue is what alot of companies use. Easy to put on, easy to get off and it shouldn't damage the neck either.

TUSQ... but bone is way better if you don't mind the expence.

On a Fender style neck the nut is never glued in place. The nut slot is around .003 smaller than the nut itself and those are normally around .125 so the slot should be .122 across. That makes for a very snug fit and easy removal later on.
