When you play a song, the people who always say thats not how (fill in any name) plays it...
Who:
A) Don't even play guitar at all...or
B) Play but can't play anything that even resembles a complete song because they are to hung up on "note for note" copying.
Wow that felt good.

I hate those hypocrit's, They try to make you feel bad, just to make themselves feel better.

You're not alone, Justin. I meet them all the time. An annoying bunch, they are.
I was thinking of them when I wrote this:

It was my way of saying I don't care how so-and-so played it. This is how I play it. Now move along.

there is no such thing as a direct copy. Nobody can sound exactly like David Gilmore. The guy from Australian Pink Floyd is close, but still not exact. And he has been mimicing Gilmore for over 15 years.

This makes me laugh when people say that because there are a number of different ways to play a song in a number of different degrees of dificulty. You can take a song learn the chords, embelishments, and solos and someone can walk up and say oh that's an easy song and all they know is how to play it using power chords, but they know how to play the song. Too funny.

or the lead singer says,
"Oh...by the way...where gonna start do these songs in different keys."

My reply to that is "If you think you can play it better or even play it at all here's my guitar lets see you"! I have had a lot of people say that to me over the years too and it is always the same, they have never picked up a guitar in their life but feel it is necessary to criticize the person who is trying!

Yeah, I feel you all! If I want to hear so-n-so play a solo I'll put their CD in and listen to it. When I play something I try to put my own feeling into it - and that's what playing guitar is all about - Being CREATIVE.
