I happened to be in Camden today, and had The Who - We Don't Get Fooled Again, blarring out of my headphones. There were a bunch of goths standing by me, and they went off on one saying how mainstream rock is so fake, and how everything way all about being happy and "tripping out on acid" and calling numerous bands "sellouts"... Then to make matters worse a couple of Emo's decided to claim their spot, and it entered into an argument (if you could call it an argument more like a hissy fit of a fight). What would have made it complete is if a couple of the old scholl punks came along... he he..What's wrong with liking "mainstream" rock anyway?

Emos want to kill themselves

Goths want everyone else to die

Punks want to stomp on everyone

I know what you mean by the Goth and Punk crowds, but can someone please explain to me what is "Emo"????

emo is short for emotional. Think of those kids who sit around, with there wierd haircuts, saying how bad the world is and how bad they have it. You know, the 15 year old kid who contemplates suicide because he has it so bad that he just got grounded becuase he got a couple bad grades.

What I really *really* cannot stand, is when I goto the store, and a whole gang of the "emo" guys come strolling through, having a complete disrespect for anything in there path, yet are under some strange impression that people should just *give* them respect. Really really urks my chain.

Soooo .. what happens here is the Goths talk smack at Rachael her musical tastes, the Punks run up and beat the everliving snot out of the Goths for trying to make anyone conform, and the Emo's all stand there and cry for a while about having to witness this horrible blow to their fragile psyche and then run off to drown their sorrows in V-8.

Meanwhile Rachael walks away listening to Welcome to the Jungle...

Sounds like a party I'd like to be at.

Goths love everything rejected by society such as devil worship, because they themselves have been rejected from society at some point in there life, either in school or college. Basically its a group of people who have been rejected for being wierd e.g. loving music about death.

Thats how i see it, i'm not saying its the case for all of them, or am i saying i dislike goths, i know a few and they are alright.

Yeah I agree, I think some ppl are against EVERYTHING that is mainstream, rock music might be like number 257 on their "mainstream hate list"
Its just cuz they want to be different or something other than "normal".

 Am, I considered goth because I like H.I.M., People need to realize the facts about music, music is a talent, a talent that takes much practice. So to say a Great band like The Who, is a sell out, ask them to play something by Pete Townsend. I am a musician, and if it means selling myself to publicity or whatever, who cares, because the fact of the matter is not everyone can afford to play for a living, if you are passionate about playing the cowbell, Guitar, Drums, ETC...... If that is your life do what it takes but play from the heart and have fun. I watched my father have the time of his life doing what he loved, luckily he got picked up by a label. That is also my dream!!! This circle of life is nuts, grab an instrument and learn to play something!! Thank God, you have hands and feet. I mean what Idiots!!

P.S. Does the circle of life even have a guitar in it???? (HA! HA!)

The hair do's changed but everything else remains the same. Instead of Goths', Emo, and wtf ever else there is now , when i was in high school we just had the metalheads, skinheads, jocks, geeks etc.
Skinheads were kinda like the goths who hated everything and everyone except themselves, metalheads like myself again kinda like goth. just liked to do stuff that made mainstream people go  everyone though we were devil worshippers or somethin stupid like that. So i can totally relate to the goths, they want attention but at the same time don't.

emo...I don't get the emo's, matter of fact i didnt even know wtf an emo was till about a year ago when my girlfriends 16 yr old daughter told me. Emo's aren't new either they were the ones addicted to "The Cure" back in the day , Robert Smith was the original Emo...."yeh yeh life sucks, boo hoo..." Heh, wait till they hit the real world and mommy and daddy aren't providing for em

funny how all that disappears when you're get out of school, nobody cares what you like after that. I mean I couldn't classify myself now if I tried. I still like metal, not much of the new stuff though. I listen to all kinds of stuff but more psychobilly/punk type stuff now. love Social Distortion and similar sounds. got a goatee ala Dimebag, I'm into choppers, not the fake wanna be "american chopper" $50,000 billet barge either, i'm a computer geek, got a pilots license, got sailing certified, dive certified. So i dont know what you would classify that and i dont really care. people worry too much about being one of the sheep.

p.s drumman, anything has guitar in it if you work on it long enough :)

Quadcam...I totally agree with you on this one.

I was a metal head growing up too...now I have my own office and wear more shirts and ties than leather...go figure. People should do what makes them feel good and to he** with what other people think. Be an indivdual, and have fun.
