some of the videos to be honest is just luck that they sound good!!! however alot are done properly, i find a trial and error works best, try different settings on your amp and foot pedal and see what your recording equipment picks up the best!!!! then 'tweak' the new settings to get as close to the sound and tone you want to produce for the song you are playing!!!!
rock hard dude this is the way i like to do it just bare in mind it can take awhile but the results are worth it!!!!
happy playing!!!!

A lot depends on your equipment and the setup you have available.
If you're going directly into your sound card you'll need to spend some time getting it just right.
Or you can use a DI (Direct Input) box to get the sound to the computer.
Also, there are lots of options available depending on what you want to do. The Line6 Guitarport or MAudio Jam box both work great and have built in effects so you can tweak the sound you want.
If you want to get more professional sounding recordings...take a peek at the Presonus stuff. They have some amazing tools available and I beleive they all come with CubaseLE to do the recording.
There's a world of new things available to get your sound recorded. If you check out some of my vids...I've done a bunch with my GuitarPort and a couple with my Webcam's built in Mic.
Rip it up!
An let's see those vids!!
