I'm debating on parting with my Dean Special (now that it's all fixed up).

So my choices right now are Keeping the dean and upgrading the hardware/p'ups/etc.
Getting a Parker PM20 Pro.
Getting a Gibson LP
Or going with a Fender Telecaster.

Lets see your votes and hear your thoughts on each ;)

Wait! How did you get a poll on there, I even asked EZ about it and he didn't know, fill me in, anyway, if I had the money, I would go for the LP or the tele. I voted for the LP, but it ultimately comes down to you, you know what you wanna play, you know your style, and you know a lot more about guitar in general than I do, so go for what you think would be the most kickbutt, yay me for not using naughty language!

I'm a mod...I can put a poll up ;)

I wasn't thinking about a strat...getting into some bluesier stuff so possibly a Tele for the growl ;)
Just figured I'd get everyones opinions and work from there.

Dis my vote went for the Tele I know what direction you want to head with the bluesier stuff so my money and vote are on the Tele and make her cry.In my opinion the Strat and Tele are blues. Not that you can't play the blues on other guitars but all those bluesmen playing Fenders there has to be a reason ,it's not just coincidence. Of coarse I could give the standard answer on the forums here ........ You need to go to a guitar center and play each of these guitars and more and see what fits you best and your style. Which is most comfortable to play for you........................

You've already got the other Dean that has a great tone, so a Les Paul would be kind of redundant. My vote is for the Tele, as well. A Telecaster will just make you WANT to play differently!

Get a tele, great guitars, I had an American Deluxe Tele that I had to part with. On the deluxes they conture the upper part of the back like a strat, which makes them alot more comfortable (being on the thin side the old plank style teles cut into my ribs and would get uncomfortable) but in your other post about pickups you were saying that you wanted to get a bluesy kind of sound. A nice Tele will take you there.

I dont think there the best for heavy metal maybe, but i just got a les paul studio and its amazing, sounds great with my friends metal zone pedal, so i think its worth a try at your local shop.

Not looking for another metal guitar bud ;)
Got my Tevo equipped with the D-Sonic that has all the tone I need for that.
Now I'm looking for something to get a little more bluesy with ;)

oh, my bad, probably didn't read your whole post, i think a les paul should do you good, you can get so many tones out of it

Looks like no one thinks you should stick with the Dean! I wouldn't, it would be kinda blah, to know you could've gotten a brand new guitar while your stuck with the same look as the Dean.

But I like the dean...that's why I'm looking at the PM20Pro...same styling but lighter with better hardware ;)
I honestly think the Evo's are better than the LP's...but figured I'd ask to get other opinions :D

If you're wanting versatility, I'd go with a Nashville Tele. It has you normal Tele pups along with a strat pup in the middle with strat style switching.

If you're wanting a humbucker guitar to replace the Dean, I'd go Schecter. They're making some great products. Mine with the Seymour Duncan JB/59 combo is awesome.

And if you're wanting to get into blues, it's tuff to geat a good Hollow Body. Just a thought.

Good luck

Thanks for the offer dbunluvn but I'm a fan of my Kustom amps ;)
I run a 36 coupe that has more than enough power and tone for my needs.
Covers me from singing cleans to ripping metal...all from 1 amp :D

HAHAHA...I've tried and used pretty much every major brand of amp over the years...Marshalls, Fender, Crate, etc. Kustoms the only one I've ever owned that feels like a tank (solid construction) and has the tone and volume I want right out of the box.
:)
Finally found something I love...I won't likely change now..heheh

I'd go for the Parker... go on say no to those seymour duncans, i dare ya!

Parkers have that special element about them, everyone has or has had a LP or a Tele or a copy of them, how many people have one of these? Not to mention the attention to detail, like the blue/pearly inlays round the body on some colours.

Hope i've made it a little less clear cut!
Good luck.

Hey Dis I was looking at your choices and I made my choice on the poll. But I am wondering why you would have a Les Paul on there! Your Dean Evo is much like a Les Paul isn't it? I would consider the Tele , these are nice guitars and you can get a lot out of them. The action is great and for someone who wants to get into blues type stuff this would be the perfect guitar for it! Great also for that real twangy country or rockabilly sound. My knockoff tele that I have I am considering rebuilding with new pups and possibly a new neck. It still has great action and plays very well as a semi acoustic lol. In this I mean it has the pickgaurd on it but there is no pups or pots or anything in it so in it acts kinda like a semi hollow. I was evern gonna consider buying a piezo pickup and just use it for a practice guitar. Ya but getting back on topic here, The Parker guitars are nice I especially like their acoustisized versions of their normal electrics. I am not one for their body or headstock shape but I have heard them and they do sound nice. CHOOSE THE TELE lol. As for your Dean Special, I would keep it original as you already have a Dean Evo and your Special sounds pretty good too. Who knows down the road someone may be looking for that exact guitar in it's original state and offer you millions for it lol. Keep it original!

I personally would buy an LP. I've played teles many times and same with the lp.. You can't even compare them. The tele is all twang, and the lp goes kind of both ways imo. If you get a tele it's really only the tele sound. If you decided for some reason blues isn't your thing then you can play your LP with a different pickup and get some gain for it. Just an opinion but a gibson les paul can cover all the things you play rather then having several guitars to switch from.

The Tele might be nice (Parker). It would definately give you a great (Parker) blues sound. I have only (Parker) played a Tele a few times and I really like the (Parker) feel of it. So IMO you might want to (Parker) check out a Tele or two....... I hear the Parkers are kinda nice aswell

I would get the Tele or I would get a Gretsch for the blues sound. Ask Zep how he likes that Tele he bought. I thought it looked and sounded great. My wife's grandfather has a Gretsch that Chet Atkins brother gave him about 400 years ago. LOL! I don't know how it sounds compared to the new ones' but it was a pretty nice guitar and the action was awesome! I'm trying to get him to give/let me borrow it to no avail. HEHE! You are a great player so I would go give one of those a test drive and see if the tones suit you. I myself would like to get a Gibson Custom Class 5 Quilt but I would have to sell my house and everything else I own to be able to afford one. Sorry for the life story. I like to ramble!:D

Take care brotha!!!

You might find that Tele's are faster to play due to the neck size, (look up chickin pickin) on you tube. Strats can growl but Keith Richards sure makes his Tele work well. Switching between my Tele. and my Strat. makes the Strat neck feel really fat, like the Gibson neck.

Overall, I like the Strat and the Tele. combo better that the Fender/Gibson switch. During a gig jumping from one to the other is easier. Uless you happen to own a Strat VG (a guitar gift from the Gods).

I voted on the gibson. I love the tele for blues and classic, which is what you are going for it seems. The reason I voted the gibson though is because I think they are a much more versatile guitar. I also think you will still get the blusey tones out of it...but it will broaden your range of what music you can play with it for less guitar swapping. This of course is just my opinion.

eric clapton strat
SRV strat
les paul custom with seymour duncans
PRS custom 22 (easiest guitar to play ever)
Gretsch if you are interested in more traditional blues.
