Has anyone played the Yamaha RGX 320 FZ? I am looking to buy an electric guitar now that I have found this great site. I can not find it in any of the local guitar shops to play on, but have had it recommended by a friend.

I've played Gibson, Fender, and Ibanez and I love them all. But I'd go with the Ibanez especially for your first guitar. Nice wide neck to help with your chords. I know Dave wants us to play with our fingertips but when you first start out your wrist will get sore quickly keeping it at the right angle. Ibanez neck will let you cheat a little since its so wide and you'll still have good sounding chords. ROCK ON!

huh, didnt know that about ibenez, but how is that going to help you later on? strats and les pauls have 3 pickups, so choose wisely

I would also take a Gretsch. A 1963 Gretsch Jet Firebird if I could choose. Rickenbackers are great guitars too if you like a really ringing tone. Especislly the 12-strings.

OK let me throw Schecter, Suhr and washburn into the mix. I love my Strat but equally I love my Schecter C1+ looks and sounds amazing. A Suhr if you have never heard of them are like the best Strat in the world ........only better http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/brand/Suhr+Guitars and Washburn make an outstanding guitar at a moderate price.

Well what type of music are you into playing? What would you like to play?

I am VERY partial to Jackson Guitars, expecially pre-fender jackson/charvel. Thats about all i would reccomend ;)

hI, I GOT THE RGX 320 FZ about a month back, its a great looking guitar and i find it comfortable, it does sound ok, but my amp def lets it down, i think on hind sight tho i should have shopped around and tried a few more first, i was sucked in by its looks. Did u find one or opted for somthing other? i do have an Ibanez Acoustic which is great,

I haven't played a Yamaha RGX in years, but I bought a brand new one back in the early nineties for $375. And in comparison to anything else in that range (then) it was top of the class. The neck was extremely thin and the action was superb, a year after i had it I upgraded the pickup to a dimarzio and as far as playablitlty and sound went, it rivalled its bigger brother the Pacifica at less than half the cost. After I used it in a trade for a Jackson w/ a Marshall, it traded hands a few more times, till a shredding freak friend of mine bought it. I dont see him around much any more but when ever I do, I mention the guitar, becasue I would buy it back in a heartbeat. Its not nearly as expensive as some of the other axes I have, but it would be an addition that I would cherish.

Now that I've gotten all that out, comes the disclaimer that I havent kept up on the quality of Yamahas since owning that one, so it is possible, ( if not probable given the times) that there quality may not be what it used to be even tho the price range is around the same. Talk about a flipflop post !!!

If I didnt confuse you , I hope my little anecdote helps out :D Peace
