alright this is probally a very basic idea of how to come up with a solo using theory and not just memory of sounds. but lets say there is a song played in key of g with chords/notes g c d e. would the solo conist of thoughs four notes throughout the neck? while adding any sharps/flats for spice?

pretty much yea but try find a scales which all these noted fit on then you can jam it out hard and you wont need the flats and sharps all the time to make it sound cool!!!!!!
but using the same four noted throughout the neck will leave you with a very limited amount of notes to play...aswell as your hand having to constantly be moving...thi sis why scales are so cool and handy...and why all the theory pays off in the end!!!!
however bare in mind finding the scale can be quite hard...try looking to find what key the song would be in then you have a rough idea on what scales you can use!!!!
happy playing!!!!

No. You need learn the pentonic scale --all five frettings. When you are playing a chord --whatever it may be --you play the scale accordingly in that chord/for that chord. Move to a new chord, move to a new scale fretting in that chord key. Don't confuse chords with notes when it comes to playingsolo's. And remember, thers major chord, minor chords, and likewise need to adapt the scale to either major or minor. Make sense?
