sweeping is one of those elusive skills that doesn't really just click, it's something that for most has to be practiced and practiced, even those that have mastered it must continue practicing it, haha, it's almost evil like that. The best way to go about learning how to do it properly is to start with three strings, a metronome, and a mirror (strangely enough, yes a mirror). The idea is to almost do a slow motion strum, but articulating each note without doing the regular 'picking' motion of the right hand. That's where the mirror comes in handy, to make sure your hand is moving smoothing and not picking and bouncing up on each note. Then, of course, the metronome, set it at 50 bpm. It will feel like a snail's pace, but Precision and accuracy build speed and not the other way around:P. After you feel you have mastered 50 bpm, move to 54 bpm, then 58... etc etc. You get the picture. It's a difficult technique but very much worth it in the end, the keyword is patience though.

I can dig through my exercises...I have a couple that are really easy to pick up and get started. Then once you get the feel for the technique you can start adding strings and working on different ones.
Lemmie see what I can find ;)
