well...after being inspired by Zep when he put a practice up I decided to put up what to me is a gutzy move...and that is me playing a lead!!!! I put this in the student vid section because I'm a rhythm player and never played leads..so this is where I belong...oh..for sure...so have a look...get a laugh..turn it off..what ever....the link will take you to our nlgtv sign-in page if you already signed up..just log in..if not take a moment to join the nlgtv group and see what you've been missing....

I laughed, I cried.... Mitch that was bloody fantastic! Ney!... freakin' fantastic! I want you to know that I had to go Advanced edit to get a bigger font too! I've not done that for anyone until now. Bravo! Bravisimo! You play like you've been playing lead your whole life. Man!..I gotta get me some of that. And I thought today was gonna be a rest day for me too. Now you've gone and raised the bar. Way to rock the todd!
I'm giving you a thumbs up icon too! :)

Rock the Todd is Mitch's thing. I get a kick out of it too. In our online chat earlier today I coined the phrase, "Spank the Todd", and then he [Todd] pulled a gag on me in retaliation. Oh we're not even, Todd! Not by a longshot. Alright, we're even. But only becasue you scare me. :)

i gotta be honest with you Zep...for the most part i thought i was screwing up alot..but there were moments that i actually got chills...kinda the same feeling when your trying to learn to ride a bike and in that instant you realize no one is holding on...wow!!!....of course right after that, you do realize no one is holding on and crash...lol...i do appreciate the support and the kind words from both you and blew...it may not seem like a lot..but it is definetly a long awaited bench mark for this rhythm player....and i got the same joke pulled on me by todd too...lol..what do you have in mind:cool: oh..shoot i didn't know todd was looking...opps...lol...yea todd i swear 2 months ago that as i played it..was not capable from these hands...it 's the Next Level..i swear
thanks guys

It's listed for Members Only..but it's free. :D
One of the things we're working on for the offshoot is to make it so the good people won't have to worry about dealing with nasty people on youtube...the vids can be set to members or public ;)

I said it when I commented on the vid at the other site, but I'll say it here too. This was amazing! You sounded like a seasoned pro. Hell, you sounded 100% better than most of the rubbish on the top 40 these days. I'd pay $20 to go to a club and see that!
More please :D

Thanks Vax!!!...you would get in for free...and be expected to join me on stage!!!...lol...how cool would it be to have some nlg memebers on stage playing a 12 bar blues round robin!!!!...that was literally my first time i ever pulled something like that off....but i thought i would explain it a bit farther...I have been a rhythm player for ever...i have always wanted to play leads..just couldn't...but god knows i've been trying...all along the way while wanting to play leads, i've been learning the technics..i've been working hard on learning string bends, pinch harmonics, palm mutes and of course scales. I just lacked the ability to put it all together, As a rhythm player learning those technics was a good thing, it let me play my rhythms with more feeling and let me add some flair to the rhythm section. What finally clicked for me was i "SAW" the lead. If you notice I have a music stand i front of me...on it is 2 sheets of paper, one has a picture of a neck with an A minor pentatonic scale plotted out, i started working on this with just that, something was missing, so i printed out the same picture but with an A Blues scale...which i found out the only difference between the 2 was the addition of a d# note. That was the "color" note i was missing. I worked out the chord progression and wrote the chords and count on the paper right aside the scale and suddenly i "saw" it. I've always said I was missing the "one" thing in my lead playing and i think i found it. But the proof is in the pudding...my next lead project is a g maj scale..which i am finding out is completely different from what i just did..but it should work easier from now on since i can "see it" now

Well I can honestly say I'm impressed. You're right in the "seeing" it making all the difference. And now that you've done that...things will really start to open up for you.
Keep em comin Mitch!

Nice vid Mitch !!! Tons of feeling, and you can hear that the sky's the limit. I think the multi NLG member 12 bar blues jam sounds like a great idea. If this is only the begininng for you lead wise, I cant wait to see where your headed. Keep up the hunger for it !!!

I'm not sure why some browsers are doing this.
I tested it with my Firefox and IE and it works in both.
I'll post it with another piece of code until we figure out why it's acting up ;)
Give it a few minutes
UPDATE:
Ok..I found the problem. It was set with the wrong permissions.
All the videos should work properly now. Sorry about that :(

Yes I can see it now. Wow bro ROCK ON! I think that was awesome and wish I could play leads. I just cant grasp it though. I been working on scales for a couple months now and my speed and precision just doesnt seem to be improving at all. Ive used metronomes and everything but its not working for me =(

That was nice mate.
You gotta work on that tone though ( maybe that's the camera mic ).
Nice improvisation ( for 5 minutes ! ) some parts are really cool :)

Thanks Steve and Taz...Steve I was doing the same as you...playing scales and wondering(in a very frustrating way) how it all works...then as i said in an earlier post when i had everything on paper side by side I "saw" it...kinda like that dot art that was popular a few years ago...you would stare at the dots and see nothing..then all of a sudden there was a ship in the picture...lol
Raymix....I'll have to take the blame for the tone...not the camera..lol. Like i said It was my 1st try and i know i was playing the wrong notes from time to time during it...so i did go flat and sharp. I kinda mention it when i got lost in the scale...i would have it for awhile then lose it for awhile...once i really get it nailed i'll repost a before and after vid...thanks for stopping back and re-viewing it for our debugging process..that was a big help..
