Have you ever been tuning your guitar, and when you turn the tuning peg it makes a click sound. ( usually right where you want to be , as far as being in tune ) A little trick to get rid of this is to take any old pencil and scrape the tip of it on the suspect string right at the nut of the guitar. This should help the stickyness and take away the noise. In general, when I change my strings I do this before I put the new string on, and never have this problem because of it. :D

I found WD-40 in a felt tip pen type aplacator that works great also, it allows me to use less than a drop, just coating the notches in the nut. I use it on the nutt when changeing strings and have not had to go back and reuse it during the life of the set of strings but I would guess that it would work then.

That's pretty cool :)

I got a graphite nut fitted (only an extra $2AU! I have a free labour warranty at my guitar place) when I had my guitar set up for 10-52 strings. It works pretty much the same way as the graphite pencil :)
