My guitar strap just failed to hold my guitar up and the guitar fell and crashed into the floor. The Tone knob broke and fell off, my pickup selector switch makes a strange cracking sound which it didn't make before, and it sounds horribly out of tune, there might even be more damage that I can see. So I'm wondering if this has happened to anoybody else, and if I could get some advise on what to do. Can I get my guitar "examined" in some way, and in that case, in what price range is an "examination".

theres no telling how much damage it has casued, usally your local tech will look at it and tell you what it will cost to have it fixed for free, I had a friend that had his guitar fall off the strap and hit the corner of a coffee table right no the corner of the bridge, driving that end into the giutar about 3/16" , so the bridge had to be pulled, wood filler used, and bridge reset, I think that ran about 60 bucks. You might consider using strap locks in the future, I use them on all of my guitars.

I sit on a bar stool to play mostly and I still use strap locks on all my guitars. A little story here when I was in Florida last spring I picked up a new Tele and when I got back to Canada my son was playing it and the strap slipped off of it and started to fall he grabbed it by the neck before it hit anything and no damage was done. Went out that morning and bought strap locks for it. Funny thing I had strap locks on all my other guitars before that just hadn't picked any up for the new Tele!
