Amp change definitely your sound . If you have a small amp you won't get alot of bass. A amp like mine can make the house shake lol

I too am curious if changing your amp will make a difference in your guitars sound.
I have an old Sears and Roebuck (believe it or not) solid bodied electric. With dual humbuckers in the erar and two single picks (one in center and one in front) I have a five postion switch on this axe.
I also have a 1963 Ventura, made by the Bruno Company whom was sued for copying the ES335 Gibson back in the day.
I am playing them through an old Crate G-60 amp and a MPS 50. I cannot seem to get the sound that I am looking for.
So I purchased a "ZOOM" pedal several year back and I still can't seem to find the sound I'm looking for.
So I have been thinking I ought to purchase a new Amp but I'm not sure what I ought to get. It would be great if you could take your old battle Axe to the store and try it out on a new amp. But then again the acoustics in the store amy not be the same as when you get back home. So it's hard to make a discission on what to do.
Any suggestions?

also you said that you play an old S&R guitar, pickups have a BIG!!!! infiulance on how a guitar sounds. You might wan tot consider upgradeing your pickups or upgradeing your guitar, just like a good amp is going to sound better than a cheap amp, electrionics, speakers, ect... pickups can make a real differance, so can the wood used in the building of a guitar. those old pine or plywood guitars just don't have the sound or sustain that ash or other guitar woods have. Take your guitar into a guitar center in your area and talk with a tech, your amp might not be the main reason that you are not getting the sound that you want. Plus new pups are cheaper than a good new amp. I have a Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue 40 watt tube that has great tone quality and plenty of vol when needed. They sell for around $600 new, but there are also some good amps in the 200 to 300 dollar range, check out the VOX Valvetronic 30 watt, its a great sounding amp and sells for around $250 has built in effects and several other features that are really nice to have. I owned one for about a year. Good pups on the other hand will run you 50 to 100 bucks.
