iŽm thinking about buying the more then words dvd for christmas, but is it a verry difficult song?

i mean, the basics of the song or to hard for a beginner? i love that tap souding melodie, but i dont want to have it laying around for months until iŽll be able to start it because it way to difficult for me...

iŽm playing since februari (acoustic), and play and practice every day, i can play a lot of open chords without even looking at my fingers, and now aŽm learning bar chords.
the only picking song i know is good riddance... so, is more then words a : "you can do it" or more a : "wait a while"

thanks for the advice

Hi Trippy,
More than Words is a challenging song because he fingerpicks pretty much the whole thing - so you wont get the right sound if you use your pick - it needs to be fingerpicked - plus he rhythmically slaps the guitar on certain beats which I explain in the video and this seems to throw off many players timing and it takes some practice to get down. Its a great song and you certainly want to push yourself to try hard songs - that makes the easy ones like butter.

Perhaps a song DVD we have that would be easier for you at your level now would be have you ever seen the rain by CCR - you will learn chucking with open chords and bar chords as well as some walking bass lines, dynamics, and much more. You will need to play that F bar chord - so that may be challenge - but more in reach right now for you probably than more than words.

Santeria is another good one you want to consider as it has some lead playing and also some ska type rhythms.

Hope that helps - I like your attitude - keep pushing yourself for sure
rock on!

I've been playing about the same time you have trippy and I bought it. I actually picked up the song quite easily. I only have 2 things to work out and they're both in the 4th part. One is the little base movement in part 4 right before it goes to the Dadd9/F# when you fret the low E 3rd fret and the other part is the one ending for part 4 where it goes from the D7 to a Db9

hrblocked, i would like to do as you and get the more then words dvd,
but sometimes its hard for me to pick things up (others just click in a few days) and it make me leave it and move to something else,

after a while iŽll go back to it and tray again, just like the bar chords, i stardet with them so meny times over the last months and couldnŽt get them ( my guitar had something wrong onthe neck) and now am getting serious with them.

so what i mean is, y need something new to learn but not way to far out of my reach so it makes me leave it.

i love the ccr song, searching a lesson for that song i found david and tim ;)
so i wouldenŽt mind starting with that one.

thanks to both, david and hrblocked for the advice.

i'm the king of pick it up, lose interest and put it down.

buy it you will not be sorry. the only way it would be hard is if you just have trouble forming and switching chords and if you do, the more you practice the better you will become at it, so learning everything you can will only help you improve over all. my only problem with this lesson is switching to the 3 bar chords that are in it and that's by no fault of the video.

i have watched at least 3 different videos over the years and lots of youtube style vids trying to learn to play this song and thanks to these guys, i can now play it. buy it you will not regret it.

these guys easily beat out song xpress in terms of breaking it down and making sure you understand. add a little more professional touches to the videos and i think they could easily put them out of business.
