I have a BC Rich Platinum Pro Assassin US made, I bought this guitar in 1985. This guitar is good but not as good as the firms NT or NJ series. It has 22 jumbo frets and BC Rich's own pickups 1 BDSM humbucker in the bridge possition and 2 single coil middle and neck possition. It has a 5 way selector and a humbucker coil switch which makes the tone of the pickup a little more tinny sounding when turned on. It has a true Floyd Rose floating trem and lock nut. The guitar itself was painted but the body was contoured before painting and is painted a red and black crackle fusion which is really cool looking. The only other guitars I have seen like this were the Lado guitars in the late 80's that had 36 frets. It sounds ok but I am replacing the humbucker with a Seymour Duncan SH-6 distortion pickup. The 2 single coils are good and sound pretty good too.

My second guitar was a BC Rich Platinum Bich, it was a better guitar than most I have played. Im not sure how much it was brand new but I picked it up at a pawn shop near my old house. It played well with all stock parts. I ended up giving it away to a buddy of mine when I got my Ibanez S470 but I still play it time to time at his house and it still plays wonderfully.

Well I know when I bought mine in 1985 it was $1,299.00! But because it is an American hand made Platinum Pro and was considered at that time to be about the 3rd from the top of the line. Right now I am looking at buying another BC Rich, As I am a metal head that grew up in the 70's and 80's metal scene, the BC Rich guitars were always featured in a lot of videos. I remember when I seen the Warlock for the first time when Mick Mars was playing it in the video Looks that Kill by Motley Crue. I fell in love with it instantly. Then when Lita Ford came on the scene she played BC Rich faithfully and that chick can play! Since I have had this Assassin so long I have grown to like the standard body style more then the exotics. So my initial thought was a Bich as well but a NJ series in trans purple with BC Rich's signature diamond inlays ( I absolutely hate those cloud inlays lol they are too girlie to me lol). Now I have a conflict as to what guitar I want now cause they brought out the Wave 2 years ago and it is cool looking and is more of a standard type shape but with a few cuts and sharp bevelled edges. It too comes in the NJ series and new NT series neck through design which I love. This wave comes in trans red and trans purple also with the diamond inlays. I have seen a lot of these guitars on eBay going for only 399.99 US and I can't get one here in Canada for less then $800.00! So I do a lot of shopping on ebay for my model train stuff so I may end up buying the guitar I want from there. Another note BC Rich opted to discontinue A LOT of designs this year including the wave, zombie, ironbird, and a few others that were their top sellers in their day. I figure the Wave will be around for years to come as Trip Eisen from the band Static X helped design the Wave and it is his signature guitar from BC Rich. I was also looking at the new Dagger semi hollow body guitars too as these are cool looking and take the semi hollows to that next level and give them a metal lookin edge. The movie Tenacious D featured the black Dagger , but i have yet to see the movie. Anyway that's my thought. I am also out for a new amp too.

Yes BC Rich, knows what they are doing when it comes to guitars. Although some of there designs offer some odd tone combinations, they do use quailty wood, and not laminated wood (plywood.)

Also, there necks are second to none. I have always liked there necks. Back in the day i had a BC Rich Bich, with a Floyd Rose, and that thing was a solid road warrior.. Never had a minutes problem with it.

I've always liked BC Rick guitars, Ever since my cousin showed me the warlock I wanted one but I never had the interest in guitar to spend that much money on one and he ended up beating me to it. I play it every time I'm out there it's a pretty sweet guitar
