Hi guys,
My teacher pointed out to me that most of the annoying buzzing that occurs when you play slide guitar comes from buzzing that happens behind the slide. So, if you're like me and you play with the slide on your 3rd finger, then let your 1st and 2nd fingers rest behind the slide right on the strings. As you slide the slide around, let your 1st and 2nd fingers drag along on the strings, right behind the slide, muting all the buzzing behind the slide. This made a big difference for me!

yes that is right, however with blues guitar, and more specifically country blues/acoustic blues, you can make use of that 'buzz.' Don't be afraid to let some of the slides buzz a little bit. It adds the the 'natural,' 'organic' blues sound. Sometimes too clean of a sound is a little too 'neat' sounding for blues.
