Leaving the capo on your guitar

I was wondering if leaving the capo on my guitar for an extended time, e.g. several days, cause stress to the strings or guitar?

im not sure if it would really hurt anything, but why not just take it off? only takes a sec to put on and take off

It would probably do more damage to the capo then the strings. If you leave it on too long you may end up with grooves in the soft rubber of the capo.

I agree with drpool - if the rubber gets deformed too much it has less of an effect giving you what you want --- oh behave you lot - you know what i mean - lol
