I dont know if this question belongs here or not. So Im gonna ask it here anyway.
Before you buy a song DVD and attempt to learn it, do you to already have to know bar chords or are you taught them in the song lessons? I only asking this cause I really suck at bar chords so far and I dont wanna waste my money and fail at learning a song.
What I mean is can you come into these lessons with basic knowledge and learn them easily? Are they all pretty much the same degree of difficulty or is one easier than the other.
Any rumour as to when the new DVD songs are coming out?

I only have one of them. I think there are different degrees of difficulty, though. Each one has a chord section that tell you what chords are in the song. You can do it with a basic knowledge because the song will help you practice some of the changes.

Barre chords are easy once you get the technique right, just keep practicing, and try David's leverage technique. What I was taught when first trying barres is to turn your finger on it's side a little so its flatter, and that helps.
To answer your question, he does show the chords and techniques used in the song, before teaching the song itself, in the DVDs. As for difficulty, each song is different, and the solos are harder than the rhythm for most people, because as a beginner you'd be concentrating on strumming and chord changing, not bending/vibrato/slides/etc. But most of the songs are fairly easy minus the solos, you should be fine, and if it's tricky at first, it's a great reason to keep practicing and improving, while learning a song you like.

thanks guys. Im starting to think that somethings wrong with my guitar cause no matter where I place my index finger, as far as bar chording, the B string is always muted. All other 5 strings I can get to sound clear, but that damn B.

When is the last time you changed your strings?
I have that problem, too. Unless I really concentrate on keeping it flat. Make sure your finger is straight. If not, your finger can lift up a little, and deaden a string. Hope it helps.

they for sure have different levels of difficutly. If you listen to You really got me by Van Halen its obvious that its more than a beginners type of song. Last Kiss and Have you ever seen the rain are probably on the easier side although there is a lot of lessons and stuff being taught on them. Listen to Sweet Home Alabama and ask yourself are you near that level. I understand your concern as to not wanting to spend money on something that you will not be able to learn. Hey Joe is not a beginners video, work on learning your barre chords, do a search of the forum for barr chords there is at least one thread with some good points to help, there are also some lessons on the main site that will help.
